Health Ministries Clinic (HMC) is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Medical Records Clerk to join our integrated care team in Newton, Kansas. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to support patient care in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
As a key member of our administrative team at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), the Medical Records Clerk plays an essential role in maintaining accurate, secure, and timely patient health information. Record Management
Maintain, organize, and manage patient medical records.
Scan, index, and file documents in the EHR.

Job Description
Environmental Services
(custodian)
is responsible for the overall sanitation and cleanliness of the clinic. This position will require considerable physical activity and will be responsible for cleaning assigned areas of the clinic to set standards and frequency daily, keeping our clinic in an overall clean and orderly condition.
Working Hours: Part-Time Monday-Friday 5pm-10pm
This position will qualify for HMC's no-low-cost benefits along with other part-time employee benefits.
Key duties and responsibilities:
Performs general, routine, custodial duties in assigned areas of clinic to set standards and frequency.
Locations may include (but not be limited to) entryways/hallways, stairs and stairwells, common areas, offices, bathrooms, breakrooms and kitchenettes, floors, interior/exterior windows.
Cleaning may include sanitization, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, stain removal, dusting.
Refill and restock cleaning supplies and toiletries (hand wash, toilet paper, paper towels)
Sanitize restrooms/breakrooms
Wipe touch point surfaces
Empty waste containers and properly disposes of contents
Remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, walls and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions
Notify managers of identified minor or major building repairs
Keep EVS (environmental services closet) neat and orderly
Maintain equipment used to working standards, informing manager of any repairs or changes to equipment
Lock clinic doors after operating hours to ensure building security and safety
Maintain confidentiality of any information found/seen while completing responsibilities
Follow all health and safety regulations and report any incidents and injuries immediately to management
Key competencies:
Ability to take a list of tasks and complete them in a timely manner while working independently
Ability to understand verbal and/or written instruction for both routine cleaning requirements and when given outside of normal task list
Flexibility and willingness to complete all assigned tasks
Maintain positive and professional attitude
Ability to operate and safely use cleaning equipment and supplies
Education and Experience:
High school degree or equivalent
Prior housekeeping experience preferred
Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and organization skills
Ability to work well under pressure
Ability to stand, lift, stoop, push, pull, and move for long periods of time. Ability to lift 25 pounds or more frequently

Responsibilities
Organize and coordinate the activities and flow of work for the peer review program.
Collect, evaluate, and maintain practitioner-specific data concerning physician and allied health staff practice and performance, including patient injuries, complaints, compliments, claims, quality indicators and other risk-related data.
Coordinate the medical staff's professional performance evaluation and peer review programs in a manner that fulfills the mission and goals of the organization while complying with regulatory and accreditation standards related to performance improvement, professional practice evaluation and peer review activities.
Collaborate with Quality/Risk Management to investigate and analyze root causes, patterns, or trends that could result in compensatory or sentinel events, serious adverse events, and near misses. Facilitate peer review of such incidents using performance improvement techniques and corrective action where appropriate.
Collaborate in any investigative, judicial review or appeal process involving medical or allied health staff to ensure compliance with applicable processes and procedures.
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
* Registered Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing preferred.

Coding Essential Functions
* Reviews designated claims for proper coding before submission. Corrects any errors or discrepancies.
* Assists Billing Specialists with coding-related questions during billing processes
* Works coding-related denials
* Works closely with providers to clarify documentation and improve coding accuracy
* Responds promptly to manager requests to code or review coded accounts for accuracy
* Provides assistance to the leadership team and management with coding of the accounts or answering questions related to coding and workflows.

Follow-up on all outstanding claims timely and secure payment - unpaid, short-paid, credits and denials.

Receive insurance correspondence (such as letters and remits) and handle timely.
