Work Schedule:
Per Diem Position - Flexible hours between 6:30 AM and 5:00 PM, including participation in a weekend rotation.
Collects clinical laboratory specimens and performs tasks associated with patient registration, order entry and specimen processing with general supervision. Performs waived testing with general supervision. Provides logistical support to team members and general assistance to customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Performs venipunctures. Collects other specimens and explains the proper collection procedures for specimens provided by the patient. Clarifies orders and pre-analytical test requirements when appropriate.
Performs registration; requisitions lab orders and verifies billing information.
Process, store, and transport specimens according to the laboratory requirements.
Actively promotes HNL Lab Medicine's values and exhibits excellent customer relations in anticipating customer needs in all interactions.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of changes in specimen requirements and collection devices.
Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and ensures a meticulous work area.
Assists in the orientation, training, and mentoring new staff members.
Participates in the Continuous Service Improvement and continuing education programs.
Properly records and documents necessary expense reimbursement (Mileage Reimbursement) following established electronic processes.
Provides on-call and mobile service as required.
Required to travel to sites within 25 miles other than base location as needed for coverage.
Per Diem: Per diem work is determined by the departments need and the employee's availability. Flexibility is an expectation of the per diem position.

Education/Experience:

Certificates and Licenses:
Must be accessible to appropriate and reliable transportation to perform essential duties and responsibilities. Certification required by the American Heart Association for Basic Life Support to include adult, child and infant. Certification will be provided if needed.

Phlebotomist
About the role:
Every day, the donors you meet will motivate you. The high-quality plasma you collect will become life-changing medicines. Here, a commitment to customer service and quality is expected. You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and will perform as a plasma donor screener and perform phlebotomy to support plasma center operations.
How you will contribute:
* You will greet donors as they enter and exit the donor floor.
* You will perform venipuncture of donors and programming of plasmapheresis machine.
* You will monitor donors during the donation process and manage donor reactions.
* You will perform all tasks required for the setup, verification, operation, and troubleshooting of plasmapheresis equipment within scope of training.
* You will install, prime, and disconnect disposable sets on the plasmapheresis machines
* You will stock supplies, break down empty cartons and assist with proper disposal.
* You will take and record donor pulse, blood pressure, and temperature measures and monitor electronic donor questionnaire system.
* You will perform finger sticks, test sample, and record other donor measures to include hematocrit, total protein, and weight.
* You will enter donor information into the Donor Information System (DIS).
* You will coordinate donors to donor floor and compensate donors using the Debit Card system.
* You will support the center management team in identifying operational opportunities for continuous improvement, initiating changes to center processes through use of company approved procedures including 5S, Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen.

* High school diploma or equivalent
* Ability to walk and/or stand for the entire work shift

This position will require 6-8 weeks of travel for training purposes. All travel expenses for training will be covered by the company and will include cost of flights, rental car, lodging, and meals. Travel home for the weekend may be permitted and can be discussed further in the interview process.

* You will answer phones, and greet and focus on our donors, while ensuring the safety of donors and our team.
* You will screen new and repeat donors and take and record donor vital signs and finger stick results.

Job Summary/Overall Objectives
The Phlebotomist will perform phlebotomy utilizing a variety of techniques. This position will be responsible for accurately performing specimen collection of inpatients and/or outpatients. Samples collected by the phlebotomist are used for laboratory test procedures that are essential in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The incumbent will be accountable for the accurate data entry of order and collection information, verification and receipt of specimens, and the processing of reports and result inquiry requests.
Essential Job Functions
Demonstrates competency in Laboratory Information System (LIS) functions by accurately placing orders, monitor various reports to track specimen and/or results, responding to system errors, and correctly look up test codes, collection info, and physician demographics.
Follow standard precautions when performing venous or capillary phlebotomy.
Assure the correct identification of patient and specimen by using two identifiers.
Follow specific written department protocols for blood collection and post-venipuncture care.
Respond to pages within an acceptable time frame and based on appropriate prioritization.
Demonstrate minimal redraws and performs in compliance with redraw policy.

Assist with urine drug screen collections and collections for legal alcohols, following established protocol.
Perform nasal and throat swab collections.
Receive and process laboratory orders, document receipt of specimens, and assess basic specimen appropriateness.
Process orders and patients appropriately during downtime to ensure progression to testing.
Interact effectively with healthcare providers, co-workers, and patients to represent the department and to obtain and exchange information needed to expedite quality laboratory services.
Assure that telephones are answered with professional etiquette and manage calls to keep hold time and transfers to a minimum.
Remain current with changes in department protocols to communicate accurate information.
Deliver specimens to laboratory in a timely manner, packaging samples to ensure safe transport.
Fill supply orders and send supplies to floors as needed.
Monitor collection lists and unreceived lists.
Maintain operational readiness to provide prompt response to service requests.
Inventories and rotate stock to limit unnecessary waste, monitor phlebotomy basket for outdated inventory.
Perform scanning and indexing of patient orders at time of registration.
Ready samples for transport, including all computer work required, i.e. click and pack, tracking, etc.
Operate hospital vehicles in compliance with all regulations, ensuring safe and efficient travel between collection sites.
Participate in the phlebotomy competency and validation of new employees, RN's and technical partners.
Other duties as assigned.
Competency and Experience [Knowledge, Skills and Abilities]
Required Qualifications/Experience
High School Diploma, GED or next level of higher education.
Completion of Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant Training Program or six (6) months experience performing phlebotomy.
Knowledge of coding, basic math, and payer/insurance benefits is preferred.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and general office related equipment, such as a fax or copier is preferred.
Medical terminology and specimen knowledge and laboratory information system experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
Experience in Healthcare setting.
License, Certification & Clearances
Valid Driver's License.
Act 33 with renewal.
Act 34 with renewal.
Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).
Travel may be expected locally between System locations.

Work Schedule:
Variable Hours as needed Monday - Friday 6am-5pm and Variable Saturday hours 7am-12pm
Collects clinical laboratory specimens and performs tasks associated with patient registration, order entry and specimen processing with general supervision. Performs waived testing with general supervision. Provides logistical support to team members and general assistance to customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Performs venipunctures. Collects other specimens and explains the proper collection procedures for specimens provided by the patient. Clarifies orders and pre-analytical test requirements when appropriate.
Performs registration; requisitions lab orders and verifies billing information.
Process, store, and transport specimens according to the laboratory requirements.
Actively promotes HNL Lab Medicine's values and exhibits excellent customer relations in anticipating customer needs in all interactions.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of changes in specimen requirements and collection devices.
Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and ensures a meticulous work area.
Assists in the orientation, training, and mentoring new staff members.
Participates in the Continuous Service Improvement and continuing education programs.
Properly records and documents necessary expense reimbursement (Mileage Reimbursement) following established electronic processes.
Provides on-call and mobile service as required.
Required to travel to sites within 25 miles other than base location as needed for coverage.
Per Diem: Per diem work is determined by the departments need and the employee's availability. Flexibility is an expectation of the per diem position.

Education/Experience:

Certificates and Licenses:
