The Athena team is led by founding partner, President, and C.E.O., Lawrence G. Santilli. Mr. Santilli is also a registered lobbyist with the state of Connecticut and is widely respected for his financial expertise having extensive experience in the healthcare industry. His experience is often called upon to educate legislators on various long-term care and senior health issues. Additionally, he serves as President of the Connecticut Association of Health Care Facilities and is a Board Member of the Massachusetts Senior Care Association.

Richard J. Liekweg is president and chief executive officer of BJC HealthCare, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit, integrated health care delivery organizations with over $6 billion in net revenues and more than 32,000 employees serving the greater St. Louis, southern Illinois and mid-Missouri regions. BJC is the largest provider of charity care, unreimbursed care and community benefit in Missouri, providing more than $800.8 million in financial assistance, education of health professionals, safety net services and community outreach programs. BJC’s patients have access to the latest advances in medical science and technology through a formal affiliation between BJC and the renowned Washington University School of Medicine, which consistently ranks among the top medical schools in the country. BJC’s community and rural hospitals are also regularly recognized for excellence. Liekweg joined BJC HealthCare in 2009 as president of Barnes-Jewish Hospital and group president for BJC HealthCare. In 2015, Liekweg was promoted to executive vice president and subsequently president of BJC. He was named president and chief executive officer in January 2018. Before joining BJC, Liekweg served as chief executive officer and associate vice chancellor for the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Medical Center from 2003-2009. Liekweg also spent more than 16 years at Duke University Health System, including serving as chief executive officer of Duke’s Durham Regional Hospital. He currently serves on the boards of several professional and community organizations including Vizient, Washington University, Missouri Hospital Association, Cortex, St. Louis Regional Health Commission, Greater St. Louis, Inc., BioSTL and Forest Park Forever. Liekweg holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Virginia and master’s degrees in health services administration and business administration, both from the University of Michigan.

Mike Pykosz is a Chief Executive Officer at Oak Street Health and is based in Chicago, Illinois. He has worked as Principal at Boston Consulting Group (BCG). Mike studied at Harvard Law School between 2004 and 2007 and University of Notre Dame between 2000 and 2004.
