Position Summary:
The Health Teacher will educate students on the importance of maintaining good physical and mental health. Some of the topics they will discuss are hygiene, sexual health, drug abuse prevention, nutrition, and physical exercise.


Develops and differentiates instructional materials to support student learning Supervises students Manages student behaviors Develops and administers health education curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives. Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning Develops lesson plans and instructional materials, and utilizes appropriate equipment for subject area; translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction Guides students in the selection of projects or experiments Completes and submits lesson plans using school-wide format Establishes effective classroom routines and assists in daily school operations Reviews and enacts services and accommodations as outlined by students' Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) Communicates with colleagues, supervisors, parents, and residential staff as needed regarding student progress Monitors student progress and provides remediation or enrichment as appropriate Maintains accurate record of student performance Reports incidents as needed and in accordance with office protocol Participates in CSE meetings, and monitors student progress toward IEP goals Completes required documentation as required by administration, including treatment team forms and BIP progress monitoring notes Performs other duties as assigned by administration such as breakfast duty, bus duty, and ISS duty Implements Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) techniques effectively and consistently Participates and promotes the school's Positive Behavior Interventions Supports (PBIS) program Attends all trainings and meetings as required by administration



Essential Skills and Experience:


Ability to speak, read, and writes English fluently, which allows full communication with agency staff and 3rd Ability to perform highly exacting work, complex in nature, and to exercise sound judgment. Ability to evaluate facts, interprets results, and makes recommendations. Ability to use sound judgment while following agency policies, practices and procedures. Possess a valid driver license with a driving record acceptable to CHK's insurance carrier and possess the ability to drive agency vehicles to other agency sites and places for training purposes.
