Schedule: Part-time Day Shift Provides support to the therapeutic milieu under the direction of the registered nurse by ensuring scheduled programs are delivered, supervising patients, maintaining safety, and treating patients and guests with dignity. Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), **1st & 2nd shifts** Classification: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt Behavioral Health Techs are responsible for monitoring Serenity Haven residents. Performs ECG tests on patients as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Qualifications/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Indicate minimum required to qualify or perform this job.) Required Education/Experience/Licensing: 1. HSD or equivalent with completion of formal cardiac rhythm identification training including EMT, Paramedic, LPN, or a. Completed one year of the associate degree program in cardiovascular technology or have a minimum of 1 year experience in performing EKGs with the ability to recognize arrhythmias and/ or Telemetry Monitoring experience. 2. Successfully completes an arrhythmia test, with a 80% overall including 100% on the fatal arrhythmia section. 3. Preferred experience with EKGs and arrythmia identification 4. BLS Certification 5. Must be willing to work flexible hours 6. Physical requirements: a. visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20 including color vision when applicable; b. ability to hear (with or without aides) c. ability to orally communicate d. good manual dexterity e. ability to push, pull, roll, and transfer/lift 30 pounds occasionally f. ability to stand, walk frequently g. ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel frequently; and h. ability to perform CPR (if a required for position). Performs routine patient assessments, scores sleep studies, documents test results, collects and transmits biological specimens for analysis. Essential Functions: * Tech can demonstrate all essential functions of position during testing: applies wires, equipment set up, and runs sleep study as indicated. * Administers oxygen and nasal continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and BIPAP as directed by staff physician. * Removes and cleans equipment, beds, rooms, and wires. * Scores the polysomnographic record. * Receives and implements all suggestions for improving the quality of future polysomnographic recordings. * Recognizes artifact (patient or environmental). * Possesses the knowledge of appropriate actions to take during patient emergency situations and insures patient safety (electrical) at all times. * Accurately does paperwork and charges for each patient. * Answers telephone inquiries regarding appointments and test information. * Attends polysomnographic record-reading sessions and in-service training sessions. * Attends cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification (CPR) training sessions. * Assists in establishing and maintaining department procedures and protocols. * Maintains registration by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT) and/or the American Board of Sleep Medicine (RST). * Practices universal precautions at all times. * May also perform work of a higher nature in preparation for increased responsibilities and may be required to work in a lesser capacity when the work analysis requires so. * Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job related hazards. * Follows the hospital exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens. * Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment. * Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department team inter and intra departmentally to facilitate the department's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
