In this essential role, you'll manage a caseload of pending Social Security applications, ensuring that all required documentation and information are collected to move each case toward a successful approval.
You will serve as a bridge between our members and government agencies, providing exceptional service, timely follow-ups, and proactive problem-solving to ensure our clients receive the benefits they need.
What You'll Do
Manage and monitor a caseload of pending Social Security applications daily.
Act as a liaison between members and government agencies, conducting outreach via phone calls and letters.
Follow up with agencies to obtain status updates and advocate for expedited decisions.
Prioritize tasks using reports and queries to meet performance benchmarks.
Escalate complex or aging cases when necessary and recommend solutions.
Provide excellent customer service by educating and counseling members about the Social Security application process.
Accurately maintain demographic and case information in a proprietary database.
Prepare documentation for appeals in case of application denial.
Assist with team training, cross-training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Participate in departmental projects and committees as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
1+ years of customer service or call center experience, preferably in healthcare.
Familiarity with medical terminology and health insurance, preferred.
Bilingual in English and Spanish, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Chinese, Russian are highly encouraged to apply.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; active listening a must.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, data entry, and CRM/database systems.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to handle a high volume of outreach calls and manage multiple priorities.

In our network we oversee the neonatal-perinatal care of a system that covers approximately 9,000 deliveries per year, 1,200 intensive or critical care admissions per year, approximately 250 neonatal transports, and 200 high-risk neonates in our neonatal follow-up program.
Our Maternal-Fetal-Medicine (MFM) program is outstanding with numerous interactions at Tufts and within the Fetal Care Center at Boston Children's Hospital. We perform thousands of prenatal (inpatient/outpatient) consults each year.
Our division currently includes 23 neonatologists, 3 neonatal hospitalists, and 14 physician assistants. We work seamlessly with Tufts' Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine to ensure that the neonatal and pediatric care across our network is exceptional.

Our neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship has 8 outstanding fellows. While our program is sponsored by Boston Children's Hospital and includes rotations in their NICU and Cardiac ICU, it is distinct/separate from their neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship program.
We have a robust research enterprise with multiple federally funded research programs. Division investigators work collaboratively with research staff in the NICU, our Mother-Infant Research Institute (developed by Dr. Diana Bianchi), and the Tufts Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI).

Review, prepare, and accurately submit assigned charges on a daily basis.
Perform manual billing for certain hardware orders from dispense paperwork within 24 hours of receipt.
Identify and communicate billing corrections to providers and perform follow-up to ensure corrections are processed in a timely manner within established guidelines.

Reprocess certain denials outlined by the supervisor in a timely manner.
