Job Description
Role: Food Service Worker
Join Healthcare Services Group (HCSG) as a Food Service Worker/Kitchen Helper/Dietary Aide, where you will assist in preparing and serving meals for residents in a long-term care facility. Responsibilities
Assist with foodpreparation, including chopping vegetables and preparing salads.
Serve meals to residents according to dietary needs and portion sizes.
Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and dining areas.
Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Interact positively with residents, staff, and guests, providing excellent customer service.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in food service or kitchen environment is preferred but not required.
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Maintain a positive attitude and effectively communicate with building occupants, administration, and HCSG leadership to perform daily tasks.
Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies
Must be able to lift/carry a maximum of 30 pounds, push/pull a maximum of 50 pounds, stand, sit, bend and walk for extended periods.
Must be able to perform routine, repetitive tasks continuously.
Must be able to work around food and cleaning products.
Current ServSafe or Food Handler certification is required based on State / County law.
Residency within the service area required

SUMMARY
Prepares all items necessary for the assigned station in Café/Coffee Shop, includes areas such as Pizza Station, Deli Station, Sandwich Bar, Grab and Go Station, and Salad Bar. Serves during events held in the Nutrition Services department, including catering events. Responsible for preparation of some items. Assists with setting up of meal service station; serving meals; breaking down station after meals, cleaning and sanitation, and maintaining equipment. Is cross-trained at other stations to help with break relief. May involve operation of cash register and handling of money. Practices excellent customer service skills in all areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Prepares and assembles food items needed for assigned station.
* Cleans, chops, slices, grates or grinds fruits, vegetables, meats, and cheese needed for production. Prepares/cuts desserts.
* Cooks, serves and replenishes food/drink/materials at station as assigned. Assures products served are fresh, attractive and appropriately portioned
* Inspects and ensures proper quality and temperature of all food items. Ensures appropriate temperature ranges are maintained throughout meal service. Records all food temperatures periodically. Corrects discrepancies and records in log.
* Labels and dates all perishable items. Rotates stock using the FIFO (First IN/First OUT) principle.
* Assists with maintaining clean counters, tables, chairs, and booths in the dining room. Ensures trash is disposed of in the proper way.
* Ensures that all areas of food borne illness prevention checklist are in compliance with DHEC regulations.
* Alerts supervisor to any complaints/problems with customers immediately.
* Attends and participates in all necessary hospital and departmental in-services and meetings.
* If assigned Cashier Duties: • Must sign and adhere to Cash Handler's Agreement.
* Responsible for totaling cafeteria sales, handling of cash, charge sales, payroll deductions and verifies money from cash drawer at meal period end
QUALIFICATIONS:
* HS Diploma or GED equivalent required; requisite experience in similar role will be considered in lieu of educational when appropriate.
* Ability to understand and carry out both written and oral instructions; and to give the same.
* Knowledge of and ability to manage simple mathematical procedures; including units of measurements and portions, as well as cashiering functions.
* Prior food service experience preferred. Requires three (3) to six (6) months on the job training to become proficient.
