ABOUT THE JOB Olivia Hospital & Clinic is looking for a full-time Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Scientist! This position will work 34 hours per weekend but be paid for a full 40 hours as well as applicable shift differential. This position exercises independent judgement in dealing with procedural, technical and customer service issues and requires a high level of independent decision-making skills to investigate and troubleshoot complex situations.
Responsibilities:
* Perform activities related to hematology, urinalysis, routine and special chemistry, bacteriology, blood banking, coagulation, venipunctures, finger sticks, and arterial draws.
* Responsible for the accuracy of examinations and analysis to assist physicians to make correct diagnosis of patient's disease and for careful handling of infectious material to protect all laboratory personnel.
* Collect blood and specimens under aseptic conditions.
* Record accurate test results and responsible for the care of all laboratory equipment.
* Perform various chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
* Receives or obtains specimens for Laboratory analysis.
* Applies techniques used in fields of bacteriology, hematology, serology, coagulation, blood banking and chemical and morphological examinations.
* Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
* Follow procedures for all laboratory equipment, supplies, and standards of practice.
* Perform quality control on all instruments as well as perform monthly, weekly and daily maintenance.
ABOUT YOU
* Associate's degree or equivalent form a two-year college or technical school or a Bachelor's degree as a Medical Laboratory Scientist
* Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Scientist certification form ASCP or NCA
* Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
* Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
