Join our team as an Operating Room RegisteredNurse! Our team gets to work with a variety of cases allowing you to gain a wide range of skills within the Operating Room. Regions Hospital has 21 operating rooms which includes a hybrid OR and two (2) da Vinci Xi robots. We are a busy OR with over 14,000 surgical procedures performed annually.
Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, this position is accountable for the following:
• Oversees nursing care needs of the newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in the Operating Room
• Implements nursing activities for operating room services and ensures compliance with all standard policies and procedures
• Assists in operating procedures and implements nursing activities for cost effective and efficient operations in an operating room
• Provides suggestions for optimizing existing work processes and resource allocation for an effective operating room
• Ensures adherence to relevant policies and procedures for operating room nursing services
• Promotes and ensures patient satisfaction with surgery and nursing care services
• Performs other duties as assigned
Work Schedule:
This is a 0.8 FTE (64 hours per pay period). Shifts will be a mix of days (6:45a-3:00p) and evenings (3:00p-11p). Occasional Overnight (11p-7a) coverage, weekly call shift coverage, with weekend responsibilities every 8th Weekend. Holiday and vacation per seniority.
Required Education & Certifications:
• Completion of a baccalaureate program in nursing
O Applicants with an associate's degree in nursing must have 1 year (2080 hours) experience as a registerednurse
• Licensed RegisteredNurse with Perioperative course or completion of a perioperative clinical rotation through a nursing program OR 1 year of operating room RN experience OR licensed registerednurse with 3 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist/Surgical Assistant/Instrument Processing Technician

This key position collaborates closely with leadership positions within the department to create excellence in educational opportunities that focus on the achievement of the mission and strategic results of Disease and Case Management.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Education
Designs, develops and provides education to all teams within Disease and Case Management Creates and maintains template for a learning module.
Develops and maintains process and records for CEUs.
Coordinates and facilitates department-wide trainings in collaboration with the leadership team. Responsible for maintaining current Disease and Case Management data, descriptions, presentations and information which can be used to support educational programs.
Maintains educational records and responds to requests for aggregate reports.
Develops and supports an annual training plan working in collaboration with department leaders.
Identifies best practices within HealthPartners and other organizations. Stays current on industry standards and facilitates changes as appropriate.
Supports the Call Coaching process and trainings related to improved telephonic communication.
*Some roles specific to teams within the department including State-funded Medical Assistance or Medicare populations.
New Employees
Maintains master orientation schedule and works with the department and other education resources to implement monthly New Employee Orientation (NEO).
Develops curriculum to provide competency in the key components of our Disease and Case Management model Supports onboarding strategies to ensure integration of the new employee into their work unit.
Develops, reviews, and edits documentation related to new programs and tools for Disease and Case Management, including online help files.
Strategic
Facilitates annual department needs assessment.
Works with program leaders to maintain key competencies.
Participates in compliance activities to assess and maintain practices that minimize risks and ensure adherence to external and internal requirements.
Develops, coordinates and provides education for department-wide strategies or those related to key initiatives along with other DCM education resources.
Maintains current knowledge of HealthPartners educational opportunities and promotes attendance by Disease and Case Management staff.
General
Provides educational programs that are consistent with adult learning principles and are effective at meetings learning objectives. Establishes and maintains effective communication with team members, stakeholders, and contacts.
Maintains appropriate confidentiality of information in accordance with HealthPartners corporate policies.
Shows creativity in delivering key messages using varied methodologies.
Understands change principles and uses concepts in providing education program.
Promotes integration and effective hand offs between Disease and Case Management programs but understands when processes vary and can articulate rationale for differences.
Participates in ongoing independent study, education related professional activities, and professional affiliations to maintain knowledge in the areas of technical and business writing, instructional design, and curriculum development, and quality improvement.
Participates in and/or effectively leads various committees, workgroups, and projects as needed and assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.
May lead or facilitate department projects related to but not limited to: compliance, information systems, health education, equitable care, health literacy and education about our programs to clinics, providers, internal customers, and employers.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in nursing.
Experience in a healthcare setting.
Experience with learning management systems and presentation software (ie Adobe Captivate, Adobe Presenter, PowerPoint, MyLearning, Prezi, or other)
Three to five years experience with instructional design and/or training development.
Three to five years experience and expertise in communicating with staff in different positions and all levels of management positions.
Excellent customer service skills and proven team building skills.
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Power Point and Excel
High degree of initiative and ability to work independently, and within a group.
Demonstrated effective project management skills, including use of project planning and tracking tools; development of achievable goals, objectives, and timelines; and innovative use of resources.
Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work effectively, including the flexibility to accommodate frequent changes.
Strong problem solving skills.
Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design principles
Consultant skills to articulate business needs and translate to educational programs that result in targeted staff competencies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
RegisteredNurse with current unrestricted license in the State of Minnesota. License free of history of restrictions and/or sanctions in the past 10 years in all states with current or past licensure.

Relevant case management, utilization review, and discharge planning experience; clinical practice experience in an acute care hospital and current clinical knowledge.
