Full-time Description
Tropical Smoothie Cafe is looking for a Manager for Walter Reed Navy Exchange.
This person will manage the day-to-day operations of the store including scheduling, ordering, training, and running the store. The manger will be responsible for organizing catering and running current promotions efficiently and effectively.
Salary with quarterly bonuses based on customer satisfaction scores, COGS, and revenue.
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of our restaurant, including the selection, development and performance management of employees. In addition, they oversee the inventory and ordering of food and supplies, optimize profits and ensure that guests are completely satisfied with their dining experience. The Manager reports to the Owners.
Oversee and manage all areas of the restaurant and make decisions on matters of importance to guest service.
Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, beverage, supply, utility and labor costs.
Responsible for ensuring consistent high quality of food preparation and service.
Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances.
Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas.
Will uphold all ServSafe guidelines.
ServSafe certified.
Estimate food needs, place orders with distributors.
Estimate food and beverage costs. Supervise portion control and quantities of preparation to minimize waste.
Maintain professional restaurant image, including restaurant cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards.
Ensure positive guest service in all areas. Respond to complaints, taking any and all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests.
Ensure that proper security procedures are in place to protect employees, guests and company assets.
Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents.
Manage shifts which include: daily decision making, scheduling, planning while upholding standards, product quality and cleanliness.
Investigate and resolve complaints concerning food quality and service.
Help Interview hourly employees. Involved in hiring, supervision, development and, when necessary, termination of employees.
Conduct orientation, promote the Tropical Smoothie philosophy, and oversee the training of new employees.
Develop employees by providing ongoing feedback, establishing performance expectations and by conducting performance reviews.
Maintain an accurate and up-to-date plan of restaurant staffing needs. Prepare schedules and ensure that the restaurant is staffed for all shifts.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of computers (MS Word, Excel).
Proficient in the following dimensions of restaurant functions: food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation, security, company policies and procedures, personnel management, recordkeeping, and preparation of reports.
Must possess a valid drivers license.
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Must agree to background, drug test, and credit check.

Keeps Owners promptly and fully informed of all issues (i.e. problems, unusual matters of significance and positive events) and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Hours may vary if manager must fill in for his/her employees or if emergencies arise (typical work week = 40-45 hours).
Ability to perform all functions at the restaurant level, including catering delivery when needed.
Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing 50 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion.
Work with hot and cold equipment as well as operates phones, computers, fax machines, copiers, and other office equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 6 months experience in the restaurant or fast-casual field required.
Ability to resolve customer issues in the store during the shift
Lead crew members on a shift for prep, food, smoothie and general store safety and cleanliness
Resolve any employee issues in the store during the shift
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Servsafe Certification or ANSI approved food safety course
Prince Georges County Food Service Manager license (or ability to obtain one)

Coordinate post award functions unless delegated to the Administrative Contracting Officer.
Prepare modifications concerning such topics as increases in scope, specification changes, language ambiguities, clarification of contract clauses, incremental funding, redirection of effort, performance extensions, and incorporation of change orders.

As the brand ambassador, the Assistant Café Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the store in the absence of the Cafe Manager and to otherwise support the Café Manager in all facets of running the store including driving profitability through the P&L and developing a crew that serves customers with unparalleled hospitality. CAFÉ ASSISTANT MANAGER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist Café manager with the following tasks as assigned:
Inventory and Truck Order (Sysco and Produce Alliance)
Schedules
Recruiting crew members
Training crew members
Orientation and onboard training
Refresher training per café as determined by leadership
Monitors cost control of the café against the budgeted expectation and historical performance, to ensure that profit goals are met.
Labor at 22% daily
Food costs at 29% weekly
Maintains and exceeds customer expectations to build brand loyalty.
Work with shift leaders and café manager to address guest concerns
Work with shift leaders and crew members as needed to address training needs
