Operations Technician
Operations technician job at Hearst
WISN-TV, the ABC affiliate in Milwaukee, WI has a full-time opening for an experienced Broadcast Operations Technician. The Operations Technician operates the broadcast control room and master control equipment. The Operations Technician will also be responsible for communicating effectively with the news department, as this is integral for a smooth outcome of newscasts. This position supports all station efforts in-house and on remote locations.
Responsibilities
Operate robotic cameras and studio floor directing
Move and handle of props and sets during in-house and on-location productions (this could mean helping move heavy equipment)
Maintain appearance of studios including cleaning of set and floors
Maintain and understand lighting grid and control board with knowledge to maintain proper programming; climbing ladders to change light bulbs and adjust fixtures
Dress microphone's and IFB's for all on camera appearances
Basic multi-media computer skill and familiarity with current Internet technology including downloading of materials for promos and commercial client spots
Help with promotional effort at station-sponsored community events as assigned
Work in control room in technical positions (including camera control, audio and TD)
Non-linear editing for TV News-Creative Services Productions
Other responsibilities as assigned by the TV Operations Manager
Requirements
2+ years of experience working as an operations technician at a commercial television station with experience operating different broadcast equipment
Must have a solid background in operation of broadcast television systems and equipment
Related military experience will be considered

Experience: Proven experience in a role requiring both business analysis and Oracle PL/SQL development.
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in SQL and advanced PL/SQL programming.

What you will need:
Education: High School diploma required. Graduation from a Neurophysiology program and/or Bachelor's degree in related field is preferred. .
Current CPR certification from American Heart Association.
One (1) year experience in two (2) of the following neurophysiology areas (EEG/EP, EP/IOM, Autonomic/EMG, EMG/EEG). EEG, EP, or CNCT certification

Familiarity of OSHA requirements.
Experience working with pneumatic controls, HVAC cooling towers, centrifugal pumps, evaporator condenser equipment, re-circulating equipment, elevators, and generators
Be reliable, honest, dependable, and punctual and have strong customer service.
Be a self-starter; have ability to take directions; and be able to work with minimal supervision.
Willing to work in varying weather conditions.
Technical license preferred, but not required.
Requires frequent walking/standing (possibly uneven surfaces), climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, working in cramped positions reaching, pushing, pulling, driving, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. on a daily basis.
Ability to frequently and safely climb and navigate stairs, work on roofs and catwalks over 50ft high.

Overview
Provide electrical and building maintenance, including, but not limited to, carpentry, plumbing, fire suppression, HVAC, refrigeration, door locks and hardware, painting, and lighting.
The candidate will be assigned to install, maintain, and replace electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in the facility and ensures that they are in good working condition, including but not limited to: street lights, intercom systems, electrical control systems, cable wiring, and dropping power as needed.

Responsibilities
Respond promptly to service calls, with a strong focus on diagnosing and repairing electrical issues efficiently and safely.
Perform electrical modifications and minor installations as required to meet operational and client needs.
Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctioning electrical systems, apparatus, and components using appropriate testing equipment and hand tools to identify and correct faults.
Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components regularly to detect hazards, defects, or code violations, and perform necessary repairs or adjustments to ensure safety and compliance.
Install temporary and permanent electrical setups for events, clients, and facility operations, ensuring functionality and safety.
Schedule, maintain, and repair all facility-wide interior and exterior lighting systems, including emergency and specialty lighting.
Program, operate, and maintain computerized systems, including HVAC controls, lighting systems, and fire alarm systems with a focus on their electrical components.
Conduct regular visual inspections and functional tests of electrical machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Operate electrical and mechanical equipment including scissor lifts, forklifts (if licensed), power tools, and general tools.
Maintain accurate logs and service records for all electrical repairs, maintenance, and installations.
Assist with general maintenance tasks including refrigeration, plumbing, electronics, minor carpentry, and painting as needed.
Respond to emergency situations and take necessary safety precautions to protect personnel and property.
Assist in the maintenance of dasher boards and glass to ensure safety and cleanliness in event areas.
Support general operations during trade shows, conventions, concerts, and family shows at the Palm Beach County. Convention Center.
Collaborate with Operations Managers on the maintenance of in-house equipment such as vacuums and riding scrubbers.
Support air conditioning servicing efforts, including operation, cleaning, and minor servicing of A/C systems.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support facility operations.
Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or related trade school training; valid driver's license; and interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with guests, vendors, staff, and other facility users.
Previous experience in electrical field strongly preferred.
Familiarity of OSHA requirements.

Position Summary

About the Venue
Centene Community Ice Center is as a state-of-the-art facility designed for hockey programming that is curated for all ages and skill levels. It houses three sheets of ice inside year-round and also features an outdoor rink for use in winter months, transforming into St. Louis Music Park in the summer months. It is the official practice facility for the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL) and serves as the home rink for Lindenwood University (NCAA DI). Alongside hockey development programs, the facility also offers freestyle skating and daily public skate sessions providing a unique experience for locals to get on the ice.
Responsibilities
Safely operate Olympia Ice Resurfacer to maintain the ice surface before, during and after groups.
Assist with the daily maintenance of all Ice Resurfacing equipment.
Preform daily ice maintenance; including but not limited to building, grooming, ice depths.
Assist with yearly ice removal and installation.
Assist with the instiallation and removal of hockey glass and dasherboards.
Assist in the buffing and cleaning of rink glass
Assist with overall general building maintenance.
Assist with maintaining all hockey related areas.
Assist Custodial staff with Cleaning of locker rooms, emptying trash, sweeping floors and other jobs as assigned.
Ability to perform general labor including removing dasher walls, glass, setting of tables and chairs, building stages, setting pipe and drape, detail cleaning, exterior maintenance, snow removal, painting, etc.
Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
Complete end of night duties when scheduled.
Ability to work a flexible schedule based on events, including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Ice Operations Director or Manager.
Qualifications
Ability to read and write and to follow written and oral instructions
Experience operating an ice resurfacer preferred or previous experience operating heavy machinery/equipment.
Ability to concentrate in a high stress, noisy game situations with promotions and thousands of people in attendance.
Experience driving in tandem during ice cuts.
Possess a valid driver's license, possess a suitable driving history and be insurable by our insurance carrier (without conditions).
