1979 Division of Alcohol and Drug Services created in the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation.

1979 The Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation began a long-range, consumer-based planning process.

1980

Amended Substitute Senate Bill 160 is adopted by the Ohio Senate on August 1, 1980.

1980's and Depression (NARSAD), a foundation formed with the purpose of raising private sector funds to support research on mental illnesses.
