After a fire in 1899, the hospital was rebuilt.
During 1924-25, a large, two-story patient wing was added.
In 1976, the local investors were repaid when the Salida Hospital District was formed, making it a publicly owned institution.
On April 1, 2008, the hospital moved into a new state-of-the-art facility on Hwy.
On May 20, 2019, the new HRRMC Outpatient Pavilion opened to patients.
Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center was named a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital in the United States in 2019, according to The National Rural Health Association's Rural Health Policy Institute, iVantage Health Analytics and The Chartis Center for Rural Health.
