COL (ret) George E. Peoples, MD, FACS, a cancer immunotherapy pioneer, is founder of the Cancer Vaccine Development Program (CVDP) and Cancer Insight. Five cancer vaccines based on his work have been licensed for commercial development. He has written extensively on the immune response to cancer with over 350 peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, and book chapters.

While an Army surgeon, Dr. Peoples created the Cancer Vaccine Development Program (CVDP) to discover, develop, and test cancer vaccines he invented. The CVDP was initially associated with the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), Bethesda, MD, and is now part of the Metis Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Peoples founded Cancer Insight, LLC a Texas-based clinical research organization (CRO) dedicated to discovering, developing and testing emerging biotechnologies specializing in cancer immunotherapy, in 2014. Cancer Insight offers CRO services within an academic ecosystem grounded in decades of scientific research and clinical trial experience.

In his military career, Dr. Peoples served as the Chief of Surgical Oncology at both Walter Reed and Brooke Army Medical Centers, the Chair of the Commission on Cancer-Accredited Cancer Care Program for the San Antonio Military Medical Center, and the Deputy Director of the United States Military Cancer Institute. In addition, he served 7 deployments including 4 combat deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Dr. Peoples also serves as Professor of Surgery at USUHS; Professor (adjunct) of Surgical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center; Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Orbis Health Solutions; CMO of Emtora Biosciences; and Chief Medical Advisor of Heat Biologics.
