Heat Biologics CEO and leadership

Jeff is the founder and CEO of Heat Biologics. He was formerly the founder and managing director at Seed-One Ventures, a firm focused on the systematic formation and management of new biomedical companies based upon novel research breakthroughs. Since founding Seed-One, Jeff has started and run several biomedical companies. Jeff’s start-ups include Avigen (co-founder and director), a San Francisco-based gene therapy company; TyRx Pharma (co-founder and Chairman) which is focused on the development of novel bio-compatible polymers; EluSys Therapeutics (founder and CEO), focused on the development of a novel antibody technology against a range of diseases; GenerationOne (founder and CEO), focused on mobile-based collaborative care and Heat Biologics (founder and CEO), which is focused on the development of novel cancer therapeutics. Jeff received his M.B.A. from Stanford Business School, his J.D. from New York University School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Chicago, where he graduated with honors in Economics.

COL (ret) George E. Peoples, MD, FACS, a cancer immunotherapy pioneer, is founder of the Cancer Vaccine Development Program (CVDP) and Cancer Insight. Five cancer vaccines based on his work have been licensed for commercial development. He has written extensively on the immune response to cancer with over 350 peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, and book chapters.

While an Army surgeon, Dr. Peoples created the Cancer Vaccine Development Program (CVDP) to discover, develop, and test cancer vaccines he invented. The CVDP was initially associated with the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), Bethesda, MD, and is now part of the Metis Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Peoples founded Cancer Insight, LLC a Texas-based clinical research organization (CRO) dedicated to discovering, developing and testing emerging biotechnologies specializing in cancer immunotherapy, in 2014. Cancer Insight offers CRO services within an academic ecosystem grounded in decades of scientific research and clinical trial experience.

In his military career, Dr. Peoples served as the Chief of Surgical Oncology at both Walter Reed and Brooke Army Medical Centers, the Chair of the Commission on Cancer-Accredited Cancer Care Program for the San Antonio Military Medical Center, and the Deputy Director of the United States Military Cancer Institute. In addition, he served 7 deployments including 4 combat deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Dr. Peoples also serves as Professor of Surgery at USUHS; Professor (adjunct) of Surgical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center; Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Orbis Health Solutions; CMO of Emtora Biosciences; and Chief Medical Advisor of Heat Biologics.

William L Ostrander is a Chief Financial Officer at Heat Biologics. He has worked as Senior Dir:Finance & Accounting at KBI Biopharma, VP:Finance/Secretary/Controller at Heat Biologics, and Exec Dir:Finance at Liquidia Technologies. William studied at Central Michigan University.
