The Industrial Truck Operator performs transportation assignments in designated locations according to prescribed method. Identifies and transports material to and from storage areas, cars, or trucks, machines and loading docks.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Identify many types, sizes and labels of finished or in process products, shipping material or other processing materials. Familiarize self with productive capacity of machines or lines and work from schedule and change sheets to assure correct and prompt delivery of items to proper destination.
Use hand truck or dollies, work saver or similar powered vehicles. Use hand or automatic strapping equipment to replace or add strapping to loads.-
Handle and pile skids, pallets or drums. Repile spilled loads of materials or product.
Move and replace scrap receptacles located throughout the plant. Segregate, weigh and record scrap for shipment.
Record incoming and outgoing production and supplies.
Load correct finished product into trailers. Insert and fill air bags safe guard product. Install wood dun age and material in trailers per loading specs.
Receive incoming material to proper storage or use location, using lift truck or hand cart.
Notify supervisor of any incidences of recurring equipment malfunctions, discrepancies in shipments, receipts, delays and corrective action taken and of any poor quality material or supplies noted.
Operateequipment and assist production as directed.
Make routine inspections of lift trucks to see that they are properly serviced. Add lubrication and coolant as required or service batteries.
Handle dock board, packages, bracing and strapping. Use tools for bracing trucks and cars.
Quality inspections of outbound product applicable documentation and support to driverscustomers.
Perform other ITO duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

The starting hourly base rate for this role is $23.46 and goes up to $33.51 dependent on years of service within the company. The company also offer a Success Share Bonus that is dependent upon meeting metrics and targets. The final rate will be determined after considering relevant factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's qualifications, experience, and work location, where appropriate.

Summary

Responsibilities
Operate a yard spotter truck to safely move trailers throughout the ATMI Aurora campus
Shuttle trailers between production buildings, loading areas, storage yards, and staging locations
Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections of yard truck and conduct visual inspections of trailers
Maintain constant communication with the loading crew via radio or company-approved communication devices
Follow all ATMI safety protocols, policies, and procedures, including IDOT regulations
Report mechanical issues, safety hazards, or damaged trailers/products immediately
Perform trailer hookups including raising and lowering landing gear, connecting and disconnecting airlines
Identify and report defects on products prior to movement for delivery
Assist in basic troubleshooting of spotter truck or trailer issues to support maintenance efficiency
Work closely with Yard Supervisors, Foremen, and the Loading Crew to support daily logistics and traffic flow
Perform all other duties as assigned or needed
Requirements
Valid CDL license
Experience operating a spotter truck (Kalmar Ottawa or similar preferred)
Strong ability to maneuver trailers in tight areas and congested traffic patterns
Understanding of yard operations and trailer spotting procedures
Familiarity with tandem, triaxle, extendable, and step-deck trailers
Reliable, punctual, patient, and detail-oriented

Key Responsibilities - Heavy EquipmentOperators & Field Technicians
CDL Operators: Drive and operate vacuum trucks for industrial waste removal including solids, sludge, and liquids; operate heavy equipment for roadway crack sealing projects
Field Technicians: Operate smaller vacuum units, high-pressure jetting equipment, and power washing systems; assist CDL operators with hose setup and equipment deployment
Set up and break down vacuum piping, hoses, and hydro-hose configurations for various job site operations
Perform confined space entry for industrial cleaning and inspection projects while maintaining strict safety protocols
Conduct pre-trip inspections and routine equipment maintenance following company safety standards
Qualifications - CDL Heavy EquipmentOperators
Valid CDL Class A or B with tanker and air brake endorsements required (3+ years verifiable experience)
Clean MVR subject to pre-employment verification and ongoing monitoring
Hydro excavation and vac truck experience strongly preferred
Hazmat endorsement required or must obtain within 90 days of hire
OSHA 10 certification required or willingness to obtain within 30 days
Qualifications - Non-CDL Field Technicians
Valid driver's license required with clean driving record (MVR check conducted)
Pass pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check
Mechanical aptitude with ability to operate power tools and industrial equipment
Willingness to obtain OSHA 10 certification within 30 days of hire
Ability to work 40+ hours weekly including varied shifts
Preferred Qualifications - EquipmentOperator & Technician
Previous experience in industrial maintenance, construction, or environmental services
Confined space entry training or certification
CCTV pipe inspection equipmentoperation experience

A day in the life
Picture your afternoon: you review the work order on your station's screen, confirm the required settings, and load materials in sequence. You run a quick quality check with calipers or a micrometer, then start the job. Throughout the shift, you watch performance indicators, make precise adjustments, and log production data. If something's off, you troubleshoot, coordinate with Quality Assurance, and keep the line moving-safely and efficiently.
What you'll do
Set up, operate, and fine-tune production machinery to meet job specifications
Read work orders and follow machine instructions with precision
Load materials in the correct order and verify specifications
Continuously monitor output to ensure consistency and product quality
Complete basic preventive maintenance and perform first-level troubleshooting
Collaborate with Quality Assurance to uphold standards
Accurately enter production data using computer systems
Measure components using calipers, micrometers, and tape measures
Keep your work area organized and audit-ready
Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout and machine guarding
Engage in ongoing training and support process improvement
What you bring
High school diploma or GED preferred
At least 1 year operating and setting up production machinery
Confident computer skills for data entry and machine interfaces
Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
Comfort working around machinery in a fast-paced setting
Strong attention to detail, problem solving, and follow-through
Ability to work independently and follow directions
Clear written and verbal communication in English
Willingness to work overtime as needed
