As a Motive Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating various vehicles and equipment, including forklifts, industrial trucks, and tractors, to support our manufacturing and logistics operations. Position Responsibilities Receive assignments from the dispatcher via radio or tablet for efficient task management. Operate motive power vehicles, including forklifts, industrial trucks, and tractors, to load, unload, move, position, and align parts, equipment, scaffolding, jacks, generators, tools, and materials. Manually pick, sort, load, and unload small packages, measuring up to ten feet in length and weighing up to thirty-five pounds, onto trucks, trailers, or dollies. Secure loads effectively using tarps, covers, slings, cables, and ropes to ensure safe transportation. Operate a small cargo truck to deliver packages throughout the site, ensuring timely and accurate distribution. Utilize a tractor for transporting loose freight, running shuttle routes for materials and garbage pickup, and moving aircraft components using tow bars and wheel chocks. Ride in the cockpit and operate brakes as necessary while the airplane is being towed, using motorized equipment to move scaffolding, jacks, and generators to and from airplanes. Assess safe load requirements, including weight and size, prior to lifting with a forklift to avoid exceeding equipment capacity. Load and unload vehicles, ensuring proper handling and organization of materials, and check materials against shipping records to obtain receipts. Couple and uncouple associated equipment as necessary to facilitate deliveries and handle tow bars and chock wheels for towing operations. Maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform daily safety and mechanical inspections, including checking fuel, oil, and water levels, and refueling as necessary. Inspect vehicles for physical damage and report any issues to ensure safe working conditions, completing a pre-use inspection checklist. Use a sweeper to clean various areas within the factory and field positions as required. Keep a constant check on all airplanes stored on outside ramps for security, ensuring tie-down ropes are secure, cowl lines are intact, windows are closed, and controls are locked. Perform liaison duties between the Transportation Department and Maintenance or other shop sections, transporting equipment in need of repair to and from the maintenance garage. Physical Demands and Potential Hazards: Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs. Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting. Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants. Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards. Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions. Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. JOB DESCRIPTION: * Proficiently and safely operate production machine centers and equipment including but not limited to front-end loader, backhoes, excavators, graders, dozers, and production machine centers * Performs mandatory visual inspection of the equipment before use, looking for signs of obvious structural damage, oil leaks around and under machine and low tire pressure * Relieve Crane Operators as needed * Cross train on multiple machine centers, rolling stock, and other departments * Check all fluid levels before operating equipment * Responsible for cleaning equipment after each use and perform basic scheduled maintenance * Keep daily maintenance service records * Perform various tasks assigned by the supervisor, involving keeping area around mill clean of debris and roadways traveled by other equipment clear * Float between departments to assist in areas of greatest need * Operates equipment safely and efficiently * Assist in training and mentoring new employees * Know, Understand, and Apply the Lock-out Tag-out procedures * Entry level laborer sawmill duties, including but not limited to, stacking boards, general cleanup, removal of wood waste and debris, and tending machines * Maintain a clean and safe work area. * Ensure tools, supplies, and equipment are always in their "home locations" * Maintain lines of communication with other team members * Learning and applying lean business practices * Fill out a maintenance request and Idea Cards when needed * Other duties as assigned JOB REQUIREMENTS: * 5+ years of operating heavy equipment * Identify tree species * Ensure safe work practices & follow safety procedures * Dependable and reliable with a good attendance record * Ability to streamline processes and cut waste within area of responsibility * Lean techniques and experience preferred * Must be 18+ years old to work in an industrial sawmill environment * Must have HS Diploma/GED * Must be able to continuously stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders safely.
