Job Description HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR PAY GRADE: 112 - $ 37,678.00 minimum salary Purpose of Classification Performs technical work in the maintenance, repair, and/or construction of road and drainage infrastructure. Duties include maintaining existing roadways, drainage structures, and grounds. Positions in this class perform routine maintenance and identify needed corrective actions to resolve discrepancies; answer maintenance questions; and maintain repair documents and records. Installs culverts, ditch work, driveways operating the back hoe; operates excavator for shoulder widening and cleaning drain ditches; operates rollers, sheep foot, blue tops. Provides flagger assistance when working road projects; works with power tools in a safe manner. assists in picking up trash, debris. and tires. Transports material and heavy equipment that may include semi-trailers; maintains tools and machinery in good condition and uses all tools carefully and as instructed. Required to be on call and/or on-duty to assist the community in preparing, responding and recovering from severe weather events. Additional Functions Performs other related duties as required.
