Responsible for operating various types of equipment, including but not limited to excavator (20 ton Class or smaller), dozer (150 HP or smaller), loaders (Under 4 CY), >12k forklifts, backhoe, articulated dump truck, and applicable light equipment to perform construction task, such as material handling, matting, land clearing, excavation, rough grade roadways and sites, underground utility work for various types of heavy civil, industrial, and wind projects.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
* Operates heavy equipment and includes knowledge of equipment functions, running, navigating, detects or assesses problems, mechanical aptitude, and driving
* May build level and/or extreme terrain and excavate land surfaces, using various pieces of construction equipment listed above
* Drive and maneuver equipment equipped with blades in successive passes over working areas to remove topsoil, vegetation, and rocks and to distribute and level earth or terrain
* Gather and load dirt, stone, equipment, materials, and waste product from jobsite onto trucks using different pieces of equipment
* Ability to excavate trenches with proper slopes per OSHA
* Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members
* Must have the ability to communicate clearly, listen and understand information through spoken words and sentences to ensure full comprehension of job duties, safety regulations, and other situations that may require an immediate response
* Perform maintenance duties such as cleaning, greasing and oiling machines; fill out maintenance reports daily
* May be required to travel to different jobsites on limited notice
* Position may involve performing other duties as required which may not be mentioned and may change from time to time as assigned by Superintendent or Foreman

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
* 1-3 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Minimum 1 year of experience in heavy equipment operation role
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
* Be knowledgeable of MIC Health and Safety programs and project specific regulations.
* When on-site, actively participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors.
* Set a personal example of safe behavior.
* Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
* Add and subtract two-digit numbers, multiply and divide with 10's and 100's and ability to perform these operations using units weight measurement and volume

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
* Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.

ABOUT THE JOB
The Tepa Companies are seeking an Equipment Operator to perform various equipment operating activities on a construction site. As an Operator, you may perform Laborer job functions based on client and project requirements.
Equipment Operator:
Operates various construction equipment safely and efficiently, including: excavators, loaders, graders, scrapers, skid loaders, and rollers.
Performs daily equipment inspection and maintenance requirements with proper documentation in compliance with company policies.
Offloads or load outs construction materials and/or debris.
Reads and interprets surveying staking pertaining to grade control and utilities.
Interacts with geotechnical engineer and interpret testing results.
Performs other duties associated with the operation and maintenance of equipment.
Laborer:
Identifies and operates hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, saws, power drills, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.
Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate possible hazards, including rubble and debris.

Key Responsibilities:
Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, and motor graders in accordance with safety and productivity standards.
Read and interpret site plans to perform precise grading, trenching, and backfill operations.
Perform daily maintenance and pre/post-operation inspections to ensure equipment is in good working condition.
Adhere to NCC's safety protocols and procedures at all times.

Qualifications:
Required:
2+ years of heavy equipment operation experience on civil construction or infrastructure projects.

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Ability to work full shifts outdoors in varied terrain and weather conditions.
Preferred:
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

Scope of Work:
The Heavy Equipment Operator operates multiple types of heavy equipment in support of base operations.
Responsibilities:
Operate various pieces of large equipment in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations.
Must be able to work 12-hour shifts during weather events to meet the customer's mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
Operate heavy equipment as required, including but not limited to the following activities in various types of terrain (dirt, snow, etc.): Excavate, load, or move dirt, gravel, or other materials.
Perform various duties such as road patching, dirt hauling, fence repair, remove fallen trees, and support the other shops as needed.
Read and interpret grade and slope stakes and simple plans.
Ensure proper operation of equipment by performing regular checks on their functionality.
Document regular maintenance checks to maintain adequate records of equipment performance.
Provide preventative maintenance to ensure equipment is safe and operating properly.
Regularly clean equipment to preserve its quality and functionality.
Perform minor repairs on equipment issues.
Report needs for larger repairs to the appropriate parties.
As part of the snow removal team, incumbent will perform section stand by duties and snow removal operations to include but not limited to snow plowing, snow removal, load liquid deicer tanks to apply deicing chemicals to streets and report usages on both granular and liquid chemicals and work alternate and extended shift schedules during snow events when necessary.
