Work collaboratively with a crew to efficiently complete excavation work on various projects.     Heavy equipment operator job in Tonawanda, NY

    Job Description We are currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team! One would be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, preventative maintenance, and inspecting industrial and heavy construction equipment including trucks, tractors, equipment, and tools. This position deals with complex hydraulic mobile cranes, heavy-duty forklifts, specialized rigging equipment (gantries, Goldhofers, multi-axle steerable trailers), heavy haul tractors/trailers, excavators, backhoes, and dump trucks. Job duties will include: Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair a wide range of problems on various types of equipment. Preventative maintenance of vehicles or equipment to include, but not limited to, lube/oil/filter changes, testing and repair of all electrical systems, brakes and suspension repairs, exhaust repairs, hydraulic and pump repairs, etc. Maintain tools, parts inventory, and a clean and organized work area. Travel to field locations to troubleshoot & repair equipment breakdowns in the field. Document repairs and preventative maintenance for record keeping and invoicing purposes. Communicate clearly with Supervisors, Operators, and Field Personnel regarding equipment status and required repairs. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Experience: Post-secondary training in mechanics or diesel preferred, or 2 years of experience in lieu of training. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong attention to detail with the discipline to ensure accurate and quality work.
