PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work and operate motorized equipment as well as safely perform procedures where carelessness would potentially result in injury.
Work in an environment that is uncomfortable due to drafts, noise, temperature variation or similar discomforts.
Ability to proofread and check documents for accuracy, as well as use a keyboard to enter and transform words or data.
Must comply with company's drug and alcohol abuse policy.
Must be able to pass physical examination, pre-employment if necessary, and as required by the company.
Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, etc.
Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.).
It is recommended to get assistance to lift items over 50 lbs. Check with your project supervisor or project safety director.
Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.)
Must be clean shaven and able to work while wearing a respirator and other personal protective equipment, when required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum 1-2 years related experience excavating near underground utilities.
Valid driver's license required.
Class A CDL with airbrakes and tanker endorsement preferred.

Responsibilities
Major Job Activities:
+ Provides OSP services requiring trenching, loaders, dump trucks, etc.
+ Performs tasks involving physical labor at installation sites to aid daily operations.
+ Performs site preparation and implementation activities required to implement approved OSP solution.
+ Operates hand and power tools of all types, including air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.
+ Prepares sites; digs trenches; sets braces to support the sides of excavations; erects scaffolding; and cleans up rubble, debris, and other waste materials.
+ Assists in restoration activities to return site to previous condition before project work.
Material & Equipment Directly Used:
Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and heavy equipment.
Working Environment:
Outside environment with potential to support austere locations.
Physical Activities:
Must be able to lift / carry 100 lbs.

What you'll do
Install new Fiber Optic Network facilities and service/maintain existing network
Operates various light to heavy equipment, including but not limited to backhoes, excavators, loaders, forklifts, trenchers and utility plows
Haul and move equipment from project to project
All underground construction phases include but are not limited to: Loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of various types, sizes, and weight of construction materials and equipment.
Performs pre-trip inspections; monitors and reports on the status of vehicle repairs and safety-related issues, keeps equipment clean
Assists with setting up work sites and ensuring proper traffic and safety procedures have been followed

Duties and Qualifications

Solid work history of success with little or no utility damage on projects
Certifications and/or extensive experience in operating hand and power tools, trenchers
Ability to expose and identify utilities after they have been located
