Visually inspect materials for compliance with specifications. Perform Inspections and Maintenance. Observe the plant and report any necessary maintenance or adjustments that may be required. Clean yard and plant areas. Participate in maintenance, repair, and general plant housekeeping activities. The Excavator Operator is responsible for safely operating the equipment to perform activities to include excavating, backfilling, trenching, ditching, and clean up, in support of underground utility projects. The Excavator Operator is responsible for the safety of employees, pedestrians, traffic, and equipment that enter their work area. The operator must be able to achieve maximum production from the equipment and have knowledge of hazards associated with equipment operation. Responsibilities: Operate the equipment in a proper and safe manner in support of underground utility projects. Visually check for utilities, if utility locates are not marked or cannot be defined. Inspect and conduct general maintenance to the equipment. Assist the fuel driver in fueling your equipment. Grease the equipment daily. Keep equipment clean from dirt and excess grease. Change buckets on equipment. Check oil, battery, transmission, hydraulic systems, tires, radiators, tracks, and back-up alarms for the proper levels or operation prior to starting the day's work. An equipment inspection report must be filled out and turned in weekly to either your foreman or your designated shop facility. Report all equipment breakdowns immediately. What You'll Do:Promote Safety. In accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards, take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times. Operate Heavy Equipment. Operate off-highway equipment to transport raw materials and/or finished products throughout the facility in a safe and efficient manner. Inspect Equipment. Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Complete daily mobile equipment reports and other relevant documentation with accuracy. Maintain Equipment. Maintain equipment performance by checking vehicle fluid levels and adding correct fluids as necessary. Assist in performing other minor maintenance. Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings. Monitor the plant and operations and report any necessary maintenance or adjustments to ensure safety. Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Skills You'll Need:Experience. Previous experience operating heavy construction equipment is preferred. Knowledge of Best Practices. Knowledge of general principles and practices of operating and servicing heavy construction equipment is preferred. Flexibility. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises. What You'll Like About Us:Hourly Range: the hourly range for this role is between $22. 21 - $32. 18. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package.
