You will be the go-to person for tracking, tracing and escalation of freight movements, ensuring timely updates, mitigating risks, and enabling smooth communication between our operations team, carriers and customer/warehouse contacts. Your role is central to delivering on our promise of “Ship With Confidence.” Key Duties & Responsibilities Track and trace shipments from dispatch through delivery: monitor carrier status, ETA changes, deviations, delays, reefer temperature issues, etc. Provide real-time updates and notifications to internal reps and stakeholders via the load ELOG (electronic log) / tracking system. Proactively alert warehouses, customer sites or consignees of ETAs, changes, or issues (for example - temporal, dock bump, demurrage risk). Escalate and manage exceptions: identify delays, investigate root cause, coordinate with carriers/terminals/warehouses to drive corrective action. Assist in filing and managing freight claims (damage, loss, delay) in conjunction with the operations/claims team. Respond to paperwork requests, documentation follow-up (e.g., PODs, BOLs, temperature/reefers, intermodal switch docs). Maintain records/logs of key tracking metrics (on-time performance, temperature excursions, missed ETAs, etc.) and report trends to management. Collaborate with logistics operations, customer service, carrier management and sales teams to continually refine tracking and visibility processes. Support process improvement initiatives: help define standard operating procedures (SOPs) around tracking & tracing, alerts, escalation workflows. Potentially mentor or coordinate with tracking team members (if role expands) to ensure consistency, accuracy and responsiveness. Ensure compliance with carrier agreements, customer SLA's, DOT/transport regulations as they impact tracking & visibility. Qualifications & Skills Must live in the Kansas City area and be able to work in the office full time. 2-4 years (minimum) experience in logistics operations, tracking/tracing, carrier operations or transportation management. Strong attention to detail and ability to monitor multiple moving parts (i.e., many freight lanes, multiple carriers, multiple modes). Excellent communication (verbal and written) - you'll be updating internal teams, warehouses, carriers and customers. Proficient in using tracking/tracing tools, TMS or other freight visibility systems. Ability to manage exceptions and escalate appropriately: you're comfortable jumping on calls, investigating issues, driving resolution under tight timelines.
