Work involves reading grade stakes, following hand and electronic signals, and interpreting plans or directions to perform rough and fine grading, trenching, material movement, and site preparation. The operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of assigned equipment, conducting pre-operation inspections, reporting maintenance needs, and following all safety standards and procedures. EDUCATION/TRAINING High School Diploma/GED required 5 years' prior experience as a heavy equipment operator preferred. You must possess a valid CDL. OSHA 30 Hour Construction Safety, a plus. CPR/First Aid, a plus. SKILLS/ABILITIES Considerable knowledge of equipment operations and construction and maintenance procedures. Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and equipment safety. Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures. Required the ability to climb ladders and work at heights. We require wearing personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, fall protection harness, protective-toe footwear, gloves, hard hat, and hearing protection. Work hazards include electrical shock, confined spaces, and noise hazards. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Must possess a valid CDL with no restrictions on Airbrakes. Must be able to pass a medical physical determining fitness for duty. Ability to pass a pre-employment background screening and drug test. Must be able to obtain a favorable National Agency Check (NAC) per contract. Must be available for regular standby assignments and work scheduled off-hours and emergency overtime as required.
