What You'll Do:
Champion Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards. Follow established traffic patterns, avoiding hazardous conditions and immediately reporting unsafe ones.
Operate Mobile Equipment Loaders. Operate mobile equipment loaders to load aggregates for processing, feed the plant, and safely load customers' trucks with desired specification product within legal load limits. Operate a loader to strip and prep the mining site and push material closer to the feeder for processing.
Monitor Materials. Maintain an adequate feed of materials and maintain stockpiles. Visually inspect materials for compliance with specifications.
Perform Inspections and Maintenance. Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and accurately complete daily mobile equipment reports. Observe the plant and report any necessary maintenance or adjustments that may be required. Clean yard and plant areas. Participate in maintenance, repair, and general plant housekeeping activities.
Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings. Monitor the plant and operations and report any necessary maintenance or adjustments that may be required to ensure safety.
Skills You'll Need:
Experience. 2 years experience operating loaders and dozers in a plant environment preferred.
Functional and Safety Knowledge. Must have a solid knowledge and understanding of the equipment's capabilities and specifications of different finished materials. Must recognize various products by sight and understand proper plant operation. Must have a solid knowledge and understanding of OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations. Must have hazard recognition skills.
Flexibility. Must be able to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.

SA Recycling, a world leader in the metals recycling and processing industry, is actively looking for a diligent, reliable and talented individual to join our team as a Equipment Operator. As a Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operations of different types of heavy equipment such as Liebherr or Sennebogen material handlers and Volvo front end loaders to load and unload containers and trailers, and lift and move scrap metal and other materials around the recycling yard.
This position will work outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
Working hours are from 7:00am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday, with overtime and Saturdays as needed.

Responsibilities of an Equipment Operator
Preform pre- and post- operations inspections of assigned equipment according to Company policy to ensure windows, lights, mirrors, review cameras, and safety features are clean and operable.
Continuously check the condition of the equipment to ensure it is always operationally ready to minimize production downtime.
Determine load weights and verify against lifting abilities to prevent overloads and dangerous situations.
Safe and efficient operations of the assigned machine to move vehicles for decommissioning, debris to proper storage site, and the loading of trucks and/or train cars.
Aid in yard organization to help meet targeted production goals.
Preform routine maintenance functions of assigned machine (fueling, lubricating, and cleaning).
Perform daily loader inspections and report any concerns, defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
Comply with all applicable federal, state, local, & SA Recycling safety, health, & environmental rules, regulations, policies, & procedures.
Qualifications of Equipment Operator
High School diploma, GED Certification, or equivalent work experience.
1 years' experience running Volvo front end loaders and/or Liebherr or Sennebogen material handlers in the scrap metal, waste, or demolition industries preferred.
Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
Ability to carry out instructions provided in written or oral form.
Ability to learn new tasks as assigned required.

Job Description
This is responsible work driving heavy-duty trucks and operating construction/maintenance equipment.
Nature of Work:
Employees in this class are responsible for performing tasks of average difficulty involving the safe operation of large trucks on public streets and highways. Employees are also required to operate diverse, moderately complex motorized construction/maintenance equipment. Under immediate supervision, employees are required to exercise some initiative and independent judgment in completing assigned tasks. Tasks at times are performed under hazardous conditions and employees are expected to be particularly alert and careful whenever operating the assigned vehicle/equipment. Employees might be required to perform manual and unskilled laboring tasks, using hand and power tools, either separate from or in conjunction with the equipment being operated. Employees might also be required to operate specialty and/or more complex construction/maintenance equipment on a relief basis or in a training capacity and may serve in a lead capacity over lower level laboring personnel. Work is reviewed while in progress and upon completion by observation and through results obtained.
Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited high school, vocational school or G.E.D; equivalency diploma.
Considerable paid experience in operating heavy trucks and Public Works construction/maintenance equipment; including some medium equipment operators training (ie., bobcat, trencher, graders, backhoe and front end loaders.)
Possessions of a valid Florida Class 'B' Commercial Driver's License with good driving record.
TRAINEES ONLY:
One (1) year full time (or equivalent) paid experience in the operation of trucks and light or heavy motorized maintenance equipment ( ie., bobcat, trencher, graders and backhoe).
Must obtain a Class 'B' Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) experience in operating heavy trucks and Public Works construction/maintenance equipment; including some medium equipment operators training (i.e., bobcat, trencher, graders, backhoe and front end loaders.)
Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the operation of construction equipment.
