Record Keeping - Maintain accurate records of work performed, including dates, times, areas cleared, and materials used with the First-Choice service verification app. Team Collaboration - Coordinate with other heavy equipment operators, maintenance crews, and support staff to ensure efficient snow removal efforts across the designated service areas and client properties. Safe Equipment Operation - Adjust operating techniques and plowing strategies based on road conditions, traffic flow, property conditions and the type of snow accumulation. Auxiliary Equipment Operation - Operate auxiliary equipment, such as salt spreaders, articulating wing plows, push boxes and de-icing equipment, as necessary to enhance property safety. Training - Participate in training sessions related to safe snow operations, equipment handling, and emergency response protocols. Requirements: 2+ years of experience in heavy equipment operation and/or snow and ice management experience. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on weather conditions. Equipment Operators responsibilities and abilities include but are not limited to the list below. Other duties may be assigned. * Ability to proficiently operate three or more types of heavy equipment such as a backhoe, trackhoe, scrapers, dozer, excavator, loader, rock trucks, compactors, articulated trucks, crushers, and/or motor graders with or without GPS in a manner to prepare the job site to meet the required grades. * Fastens attachments to tractor with clevis or wedge pin hitches. * Connects hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachment. * Moves levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks. * Moves hand and foot levers to control hydraulic shovel. * Uses shovel to dig trenches and holes of specified length, depth and width, remove loosened material and put in piles or transport trucks. * Moves levers and depresses pedals to maneuver equipment and raise, lower, and tilt attachment to clear right-of-way. * Feels lever and listens for stalling action of engine to estimate depth of cut. * Drives bulldozer in successive passes over terrain to raise or lower terrain to specified grade following markings on grade stakes or hand signals. * Responsible to construct/grade new roadways, base courses, building pads, footing excavation and water ponds and to properly slope and grade to specifications. * Responsible to load, move, level and grade dirt, rocks, demoed concrete and other materials in a safe and efficient manner all in a high paced environment to maintain production goals. * Ability to maintain the initiative to maintain the flow of work under minimal supervision. * Responsible of demolition of bridges and other structures with excavators and hydraulic hoe rams. * Responsible to operate equipment within a Pipe Crew environment such as an excavator or loader. * Responsible for general housekeeping, light maintenance of equipment, proper care of equipment, operating the equipment without damaging it along with maintenance checks of equipment including reporting usage/utilization hours on a daily basis. * May work with GPS installed devices on dozers and motor graders. * Learn, follow and promote all safety standards of Ralph L Wadsworth and its projects. * Work weekend, holiday, and/or overtime work as the project needs require. * Perform Laborer work as required * Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor. * Have a minimum of 4 years of Heavy Equipment Operating Experience with multiple types of equipment or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Willing to do laborer work * Ability to work safely under pressure with time constraints in a changing environment. * Frequent gross body movements such as bending, climbing into equipment, lifting (up to 75lbs), twisting, standing, balancing, stooping, handling materials, moving around hazardous sites. * Good Eye to Hand coordination a must. The Senior Equipment Operator will train and develop into the Lead Equipment Operator job scope while the Lead Equipment operator is filling in for supervisory duties. * Operates mobile equipment as assigned every day based on production needs * Work with employees to ensure a high level of accuracy and engagement on hazard identification and control * Engage crews and leadership to define processes that motivate working towards common goals * Assist with MSHA regulatory training and verify compliance to standards * Live the values as part of a visible daily decision-making process * Assist with training efforts to grow other operators * Assist with training proficiency audits * Assist with client specific safety needs as required * Support risk assessment processes at various levels of the organization * Holds themselves and others accountable for acting like an owner (taking care of equipment, not wasting resources, using time wisely, and being accountable for conditions and behaviors) * Maintains a high standard of housekeeping (machine and work areas) Culture and Communication: * Can effectively communicate in English (multi-lingual preferred) * Assist with daily lineout meetings and monthly safety topic communications * Assist with site communication programs and processes to ensure timely, specific, and value-added information * Assist with site and project leaders to identify areas of improvement * Work with crews to support proactive near miss reporting * Leads by example (walks the talk) Systems: * Ability to perform quality pre-operation machine inspections (Based on mobile equipment physical demands analysis) * Able to perform quality workplace examination (per MSHA requirements) * Ability to use electronic filing and reporting systems * Accurately documents 5000-23 and training checklist requirements * Other regulatory & internal / external forms as required Travel and New Site Development: * Maintains a valid and insurable driving license * Available to travel on short notice to support timelines and production requirements at existing sites (Preferred) Supervisory / Leadership Duties * Learn and assist with key performance indicators, company targets, and daily progress reporting * Assist in employee timekeeping and production reports * Maintains compliance to Turner Mining Group Policies and Procedures including Fit for Duty requirements * Upholds Code of Conduct requirements * Spend time with maintenance, and site supervision to build relationships and develop trust * Assist with development / implement processes to reduce and eliminate repeat incidents Time and Interactions: * The Senior Equipment Operator must be flexible on shift schedules (days and nights) to assist with training and production needs * The Senior Equipment Operator will be self-starting, motivated, with a strong desire to be part of a team and to influence improvement. Communication is also critical to keep leadership and site-based personnel in the loop of successes, challenges, and any additional support that may be required * Interacts with client supervision to discuss production challenges, targets, and collaboration between teams * Excellent time management skills Qualifications: * Smart phone navigation * Willingness and ability to adhere to OSHA / MSHA regulatory requirements * 3-5 years' experience in mining / heavy industry preferred * Working knowledge of safety systems and processes * Appropriate attention to detail required * Strong communication skills * Strong morals and values * Exemplary attendance record * Exemplary safety and disciplinary record * Willingness to be flexible on daily job duty requirements * Maintains a positive outspoken learning attitude * The Senior Equipment Operator must pass and maintain Turner Mining Group mobile equipment skills qualifications on each piece of the following equipment: * Production excavator * Production loader * Support excavator * Dozer * Support loader * Grader * Water truck, * Haulage truck Other Duties: * In addition to the job skills above, there may be requirements for manual tasks to be completed to meet other business needs.
