About this Role
FiberTel is looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator for our Sacramento, CA to Reno, NV project.
The Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for safely and skillfully operating and maintaining construction equipment (cable plows, backhoe, mini excavator, skid steer, rock saw, and other utility construction equipment). This position will be responsible for the safe transportation of materials and equipment. He/she will load and unload equipment and material as needed.
Pay: $27-35/hr base -
Subject to CA an NV Prevailing Wage Rates which may change depending on work location and job duties. Rates can go upwards of $65-74/hr.
Travel: This position will be focused on a project spanning Sacramento, CA to Reno, NV.
What You'll Do
Position Responsibilities:
Operate all heavy machinery in a safe manner
Dig trenches, back-fill excavations, and compact & level earth to grade specifications
Transport materials and equipment
Load & unload equipment and material as needed
Follow all on-site safety procedures
Ensure contents & equipment are properly secured during transportation
Comply with all DOT regulations and rules
Perform daily vehicle pre-trip inspections and JHA

What You'll Get
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week. This position operates in an outdoor environment and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including; extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and high wind. The outside work environment will vary throughout the day including changes in terrain, traffic, urban settings, and/or rural settings. This position may occasionally be exposed to natural gas and to the risk of electrical shock. Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels.
Physical Requirements:
The employee will need to have the ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 12 hours at a time), tolerate work in extreme weather conditions, speak and hear worksite safety instructions, withstand prolonged and repeated: lifting, standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching and feeling, crouching, and crawling. The employee will need to be able to regularly lift 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Job Description: This position will help Markit! execute various forestry projects and be responsible for assisting in the proper maintenance, preparation and operation of all tools and equipment including hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and heavy machinery. General Qualifications
Criminal History and Background Checks:

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic Supervisor will support equipment maintenance and repair operations for U.S. Army Reserve missions. This position is responsible for supervising, diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining a variety of heavy power equipment, ensuring all machinery operates safely and efficiently in accordance with contract requirements and Army standards.
This position will analyze malfunctions and perform complex repairs and equipment such as cranes, bulldozers, scrapers, power shovels, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, dredges, pumps, compressors, and pneumatic tools. The mechanic inspects and tests equipment to identify defects, disassembles and reassembles components using hoists and hand tools, and examines parts for excessive wear or damage. Duties also include replacing defective engines and subassemblies, conducting tests to verify operating efficiency, and welding broken or damaged parts as needed.
In addition to hands-on repair duties, this position provides direct supervision to personnel engaged in equipment maintenance, cleaning, assembly, and disassembly. The supervisor ensures that all safety standards are followed, maintenance records are accurate, and productivity goals are met. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic Supervisor may also assist in repairs and maintenance of specialized machinery such as drilling, stripping, or continuous mining equipment. Performs all other positions -related duties and assigned or requested. A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A) is required for this position to meet the scope of contract operations. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, leadership skills, and experience managing maintenance teams in a military or industrial environment.

Job ResponsibilitiesPerform maintenance and repair work on equipment such as, mobile air compressors, small trucks, haul trucks, dump trucks, bulldozers, fork lift trucks, graders, front-end loaders, etc. Complete repairs on gas and diesel powered equipment. Assist in the removal, dismantle, repair, re-assembly, testing and installing engines and engine accessories. These assemblies include but not limited to: transmissions (manual and automatic), differentials, clutches, torque converters, steering systems, brake systems, hydraulic cylinders, hose assemblies, etc. Assist in repairing and adjusting ignition, fuel injection and carburetion systems. Inspect equipment and perform preventive maintenance duties. Lubricate equipment, change and repair tires, change and charge batteries, put on and remove tire chains, etc., as necessary. Utilize hand tools, power tools, and handheld diagnostic equipment. Use steam jenny to clean equipment. Complete acetylene burning and simple welding. Keep work area and tools clean and orderly. Perform other duties as required or assigned. Ensure the plant area meets or exceeds all safety standards for SGI (guards, walkways…etc.) and all work is performed safely.Education:
H.S Diploma
Experience: Ability to drive mobile equipment. Ability to repair engines, ignitions, brakes, carburetion, fuel injection, power steering systems, etc. Comprehension on use of electronic diagnostic equipment on all mobile equipment. Do rough welding. Work from schematics and diagrams. Ability to complete preventative maintenance on all mobile equipment. Make emergency repairs when needed on all mobile equipment.
Working Conditions
Subject to considerable dirt and grease disassembling and repairing equipment. Occasionally subject to inclement weather and cold weather in winter.
Base salary and/or rate of pay ranges listed are exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Individual compensation offers will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant candidate experience and skill, education, and/or qualifications.Base Hourly Rate: $40.10

Operates skid steer loader with multiple attachments and would perform multiple exchanges to facilitate different processes.

Perform snow removal with each snow event along with salting and sanding to ensure a safe work environment.
Direct customers to the proper location by material for offloading.
Assist customers with unloading material when needed.
