THE ROLE Under limited supervision, sorts, positions, stages and loads waste and recyclable materials for the safe transport and efficient removal from the site. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, AND ARE NOT LIMITED TO: * Operates heavy equipment, such as a loader, dozer, excavator or similar equipment, as applicable to location. * Maintains a safe and clean work environment. * Maintains good customer relations and interacts in a professional manner with customers. * Performs daily routine safety and equipment operation checks including pre- and post-shift inspections on assigned equipment. * Reports issues to the appropriate authority and in a timely manner. * Supports other areas of the operation as needed. * Reports all accidents and/or safety violations to the appropriate authority and in a timely manner. QUALIFICATIONS Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is: * Three years of related experience, including experience in the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment. * Principles and practices of job site safety, potential job hazards, and state and local regulations including applicable waste regulation. * Basic computer programs. * High school degree or GED preferred. * Valid California Driver's License required.
