The Heavy Equipment Mechanic (HEM) is responsible for the inspection, service, repair and preventative maintenance of the various types of company owned equipment. Using both company and industry standards, this role ensures all involves inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing hydraulic and electrical systems, hydraulic steering systems, multi-axle alignments, chassis electrical, and air brake systems. The position also requires intermediate welding and fabrication work as needed. Education and Experience A degree/diploma from an accredited Heavy Equipment and/or Diesel Technician program. Or 5+ years of equivalent experience working with heavy/medium duty diesel heavy equipment validated through the Associated Equipment Distributors (AED) Foundation Technical Pre-Assessment with a passing overall score of =>65%. And must obtain AED Industry Certified Technician assessment with a passing overall score of =>70% within 1 year of hire date. Install and take out deck sections and beam sections upon request. Can convert multi axle equipment into steerable equipment upon request. Perform accident damage repairs including full rear end replacements, axle and boogie box swaps, side-rail and cross member repairs and up to Multi Axle and Schnabel equipment.
