About this Role
FiberTel is looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator for our Sacramento, CA to Reno, NV project.
The Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for safely and skillfully operating and maintaining construction equipment (cable plows, backhoe, mini excavator, skid steer, rock saw, and other utility construction equipment). This position will be responsible for the safe transportation of materials and equipment. He/she will load and unload equipment and material as needed.
Pay: $27-35/hr base -
Subject to CA an NV Prevailing Wage Rates which may change depending on work location and job duties. Rates can go upwards of $65-74/hr.
Travel: This position will be focused on a project spanning Sacramento, CA to Reno, NV.

Working Conditions:
This is a full-time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week. THE ROLE

THE ROLE
The Heavy Equipment Operator III is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a hydraulic grapple or magnetic crane to lift, sort, load or unload scrap metal and debris in preparation for processing operations, also load and unload containers and trailers and lift and move heavy scrap metal of varying sizes and weights around the work area. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
* Perform pre and post operation inspections of assigned equipment according to company policy to ensure windows, lights, mirrors, review cameras, and safety features are clean and operable
* Continuously check the condition of the equipment to ensure it is always operationally ready to minimize production downtime
* Determine load weights and verify against lifting abilities to prevent overloads and dangerous situations
* Safe and efficient operations of the assigned machine to move vehicles for decommissioning, debris to proper storage site, and the loading of trucks and/or train cars
* Aid in yard organization to help meet targeted production goals
* Perform routine maintenance functions of assigned machine (fueling, lubricating, and cleaning)
* Perform daily loader inspections and report any concerns, defects or needed repairs to supervisor

Job Summary and Description: Veracyte is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Equipment Operations Engineer to join our Equipment Engineering and Operations team at our South San Francisco headquarters.
The Equipment Operations Engineer is responsible for ensuring reliability, compliance, and operational availability of laboratory equipment across clinical and research environments in adherence to Veracyte's equipment lifecycle management program. The scope of equipment includes a diverse range of assets such as liquid handlers, spectrophotometers, analyzers, and more.
The ideal candidate will bring a collaborative spirit and work cross-functionally with teams in Automation, Product Development, Quality, and Clinical Operations. Depending on level, this role ranges from executing technical tasks under guidance, to driving cross-functional initiatives, to leading complex investigations and mentoring members within the Equipment Engineering and Operations team.

Responsibilities:
Support optimization and adherence to the equipment lifecycle program and processes from procurement, installation, qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), calibration, and preventive maintenance to decommissioning.
Independently manage equipment systems, including internal investigations and service coordination, documentation, and continuous improvement related to equipment performance. Troubleshoot and support root cause investigations for equipment failures and implement correct actions.
Support cross-functional efforts related to new equipment onboarding, equipment relocations, obsolescence planning, and lab expansions.
Coordinate maintenance, calibration, verification, and qualification activities across internal stakeholders (R&D and CLIA) and external service vendors to minimize impact on lab workflows while ensuring regulatory compliance.
Maintain accurate and compliant documentation for all equipment-related activities, support audits, inspections, and internal reviews.
Support development of equipment maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and increase overall equipment reliability.
Support investigations as SME in NCR's and CAPA's as needed.
Support development and authoring equipment specifications, user requirements, and IQ/OQ protocols. Support equipment qualification activities.
Ensure all equipment and processes meet quality and regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, IVD, and/or FDA regulations).
Adhere to procedures and policies outlined within Veracyte's quality management system.
Who You Are:
4-6 years of related experience with a BS/BA or higher degree (2-4 yrs with a Masters Degree) in an Engineering field or equivalent work experience.
4-6 years of hands-on experience in equipment engineering or reliability engineering within a highly regulated environment.
4-6 years of experience developing/writing equipment qualification plans, calibration strategies, and maintenance & operation procedures.
Familiarity with lab instrumentation, preventive maintenance, and calibration standards.
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex equipment issues and drive resolution independently or collaboratively.
Proficient with common software tools (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google Suite).
Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work cross-functionally.

As a Seasonal - Engineering Equipment Operator your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Operates bulldozer, angle dozer, or other attachments to push refuse into an open pit or to fill in demolished building sites and cover with earth, to clean ditches, to fill holes in dikes, or to excavate ditches and ponds.
* Operates farm tractors with auxiliary equipment for farming, mowing, maintaining dikes, and other related activities.
* Operates crawler tractor in forested terrain in piling of slash, clearing brush, small trees, tree stumps, and rocks, and developing fire lanes. Operates front-end attachments to remove piles of dirt, to load trucks, or for the digging of earth or gravel.
* Conducts disking, chopping, mowing, rotovating, digging, loading and leveling to a rough grade for the purpose of ditch cleaning, culvert installation, creating and maintaining trails and fire breaks, patching potholes, and piling slash for various purposes.
* Performs minor repairs which include replacement of hoses, belts, fuses, light bulbs, etc. that do not require dismantling large components of the equipment such as radiators, hydraulic tanks, alternators, tracks, etc. Services equipment by checking fluids, lubricating, and performing safety checks.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical Effort: Very strenuous effort is required in the operation and frequent adjustment of large pieces of equipment and attachments, often under adverse operating conditions. Considerable strain is caused by the constant vibration of the equipment and the jolting received from operation of the equipment over rough surfaces. Location of the controls and attachments frequently requires work in awkward or strained positions. Daily equipment servicing requires bending, stooping, kneeling, and lifting of heavy objects. The employee frequently lifts, carries, and sets up parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted, and over 50 pounds with assistance. The employee uses jacks, pulleys, dollies, or other lifting and carrying devices. Work may be from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, or high places, and in hard-to-reach places. Frequent arm and leg movements are required to operate controls, make repairs, and build items.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in all types of weather often in an open driver's seat. Due to operations of large and complicated equipment, often in rough terrain, the operator is exposed to injury resulting from equipment overturning, and is subject to noise, vibration, dust, and fumes from machinery. Caution must be exercised to avoid injury from moving machinery and breaking cables, and other difficult circumstances.
