EMPLOYMENT TYPE: 8-12 Month Project | Large-Scale
CONTEXT: We are seeking skilled Heavy EquipmentOperators to support the construction of a 40-acre substation pad in Tulsa, OK. This is a high-production dirt and civil project requiring operators who are experienced, safety-focused, and comfortable running multiple types of heavy machinery in a fast-paced environment.
Operators will handle mass excavation, trenching, grading, backfilling, and all earthwork activities necessary for substation pad development. GPS machine-control experience is strongly preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
EquipmentOperationOperate dozers, excavators, blades (motor graders), scrapers, loaders, and additional earthmoving equipment for mass grading and site development.
Perform cut/fill operations, trenching, finish grading, and compaction support.
Utilize GPS machine-control systems to achieve accurate grades and maintain production targets.
Conduct basic equipment inspections; ensure machinery is maintained and operated safely.
Earthwork & Site Development
Follow grade stakes, construction plans, and GPS guidance for accurate scope execution.
Assist with drainage installation, utility trenching, and all phases of pad construction.
Collaborate with the crew to meet project timelines and quality standards.
Safety & Compliance
Maintain a safe jobsite and follow all company and AEP site-specific safety procedures.
Participate in daily safety meetings and hazard assessments.
Report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or near-miss incidents immediately.
Teamwork & Communication
Work closely with the Site Superintendent, foremen, surveyors, and fellow operators.
Communicate equipment or site concerns promptly to leadership.
Support production goals by operating efficiently, accurately, and reliably.
QUALIFICATIONS:
3-5 years of heavy equipmentoperating experience (dirt work, site development, or civil construction).
Proficiency operating dozers, excavators, motor graders (blades), scrapers, additional earthmoving equipment as needed.
Experience on large civil, industrial, or utility infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of grades, slopes, earthmoving processes, and jobsite safety.
Ability to pass background check and drug screen.
GPS machine-control experience (Trimble, Topcon, or comparable systems).
Experience on substation, power, industrial, or energy-sector civil projects.
High-level proficiency across multiple machine types.
OSHA certifications or equipment-related credentials.

The primary functions of the operator include but are not limited to being responsible for the safe and efficient operation of mobile aggregate mining and processing equipment and effectively monitor all equipment under his/her control.

Position Overview
This is a full-time position working approximately 7:30am - 4:00pm, located on the Creek Turnpike in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The Heavy EquipmentOperator is responsible for operating power equipment and performing related tasks in the maintenance and repair of highways.
Compensation
Level I - $20.50 per hour or $42,630 annually
(potential to promote to Level II after obtaining CDL within the first 6 months, and with years of experience as required for Level II)
Level II - $23.77 per hour or $49,455 annually
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
* Operateequipment or heavy machinery such as trucks, tractors, road graders, dozers, front-end loaders, cranes, backhoes, paint machines, semi-trailers, snow removal equipment and other equipment as needed.
* Performs minor repairs and maintenance on equipment and facilities.
* Repairs failures in the roadway shoulders or bridge decks.
* Repairs and/or replaces signs, posts, guardrails and fences.
* Provides traffic control assistance using a stop/slow sign or flag to direct highway traffic.
* Applies herbicide to highway rights-of-way to control weeds and other unwanted vegetation.
* Remove debris including tires, animal carcasses, spilled items and other obstacles.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
* While performing the duties of this job, the employees are frequently required to stand, walk and reach; and talk and hear.
* Routinely, employees are required to sit; to manipulate or feel objects, tools or controls; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
* Employees must regularly lift 80 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications
* LEVEL I - Education and Experience requirements at this level are none.
* LEVEL II - Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of one year of experience in operating heavy equipment (preferably within road construction/maintenance) and possess a current Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
* Knowledge of the operation and servicing of equipment or heavy machinery used in highway construction and maintenance; of materials used in highway construction and maintenance; and of proper highway traffic control during maintenance operations.
* Ability is required to operate heavy equipment or machinery used in highway construction and maintenance; to use highway construction and maintenance materials; to follow instructions; and to communicate effectively.
* Persons appointed to the position must possess or obtain a commercial driver's license, class A, no later than five months from the date of appointment.
* Applicants must be willing and able to perform all job-related travel normally associated with this position; be willing to work hours other than on regular shifts during emergency situations; and possess a working telephone to receive emergency on-call duty messages.

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating heavy equipment safely and efficiently to ensure that work is completed on schedule and within budget. As a key member of our team, the Operator II will work closely with other crew members and subcontractors to ensure that projects are completed to the highest level of quality.
Responsibilities
Operate heavy equipment, including bulldozers, excavators, and loaders, to move materials, earth, and other heavy objects
Ensure that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest level of quality
Maintain equipment and perform basic repairs as needed
Communicate regularly with other crew members and subcontractors to ensure that work is completed on schedule and within budget
Develop and maintain relationships with crew members and subcontractors to ensure that they are aware of project schedules and deadlines
Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and that safety procedures are followed at all times
Identify and resolve issues that arise during construction projects
Provide on-the-job training to new operators as needed
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in heavy equipmentoperation preferred
2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment, with experience in a construction setting preferred
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze project data and identify trends and opportunities for improvement
Experience with government contracts and compliance is a plus

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for preventative maintenance, repairs, general cleanup, assisting drivers with additional products and overall appearance of the batch plant.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for operating front end loader, bobcat, and backhoe when needed.
Responsible for assisting with batch plant startup and shut down at the start and end of the day

About the Position
