The Heavy Equipment Mechanic analyzes malfunctions and performs repairs, rebuilds, and maintenance on power equipment such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, pumps, compressors, and pneumatic tools. The position operates and inspects machines and equipment to diagnose defects, dismantles and reassembles equipment using hoists and hand tools, and examines parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges.
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic replaces defective engines and subassemblies such as transmissions, tests overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency, and welds broken parts and structural members as needed. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic may direct workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with the assembly and disassembly of equipment, and may repair, adjust, and maintain mining machinery such as stripping and loading shovels, drilling and cutting machines, and continuous mining machines.
Performs all other position -related duties and assigned or requested.
A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A) is required for this position to meet the scope of contract operations.
Minimum Requirements

Understands and uses safety items and personal protective equipment (PPE) that is mandatory and actively supports the EHS safety program.
Required to walk, stand, sit, and move about the property for long periods of time.
Required to perform physical activities that require considerable use of the arms and legs and moving the entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping to handle materials.
Work in a noise level can range from minimal to intense.
