We are currently looking for a Field Heavy Equipment Shop Mechanic to join our Heavy Civil team at our Dinwiddie, VA Field Service Center. The Mechanic position is subject to travel throughout VA to our various job sites to support our operations teams.

This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction.
This position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.
Basic Requirements:
Valid Driver's license
Min. CDL B required
Minimum 3+ years preferred experience as a heavy equipment mechanic in construction industry
Test repaired equipment to insure operating efficiency.
Essential Functions:
Inspecting and lubricating heavy construction equipment in shop and at construction job sites.
Repair trouble shooting of heavy trucks and construction equipment (i.e., loaders, dozers, cranes, backhoes, etc.), including removal of defective parts and installing new or rebuilt parts.
Test repaired equipment to insure operating efficiency.
Trouble shoot, diagnose and repair electrical systems.
Repair hydraulic systems
Assist in dismantling and/or putting together cranes.
Make preventative maintenance checks and inspections
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds from ground level to waist level.
Continuous standing and walking required throughout a scheduled work shift.
Required to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands, and requires acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing.
Must be able to climb ladders and/or steps on equipment to access areas to be repaired.
Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and crawl.
Must be able to work in dirty, greasy, noisy, cold, hot and humid working conditions.

Position Summary: Responsible for operating all rolling equipment (forklifts) to move, locate, relocate, pick, and stack product. Accurately counts product; ensuring the product is free of damage for inbound and outbound shipments and assuring all paperwork, labeling, and addressing of orders to correspond to in house and customer specifications or other requirements. The rolling equipment (forklift) operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operating of all the equipment; performing other duties as assigned.
Description
Employee must operate all equipment to include Pacer, Turret Truck, Order Picker, and Walkie/Rider and work at elevations of 35 feet wearing Personal Protective Equipment - Safety Harness. Unloads trucks, puts away stock in assigned locations, stages stock in assigned P&D locations, and stages full case picks to assigned P&D location. Removes plastic from pallets, breaks down pallets, and completes appropriate paperwork. The job requires computer knowledge of WMS. Required to work in other areas and other locations as assigned based on workload.
This job requires a lot of standing, walking, climbing, and lifting from 3 to 50 pounds regularly. Operates rolling equipment to move product working at heights of 35 feet with appropriate PPE (safety harness). Stretch wraps pallets and weighs to maintain order integrity. Places orders in assigned ship locations. Loads directly from conveyor and stacks cartons in the trailer. Initiates BOL and ensures all documentation for the order is available. Picks orders, packs orders, and all other general warehouse duties required. Ability to work extended hours as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Picks cartons and loose stock from back-up rack locations and moves product to assigned staging areas for replenishment to forward pick locations and full case/pallet picks to proper staging areas.
Places labels on cartons properly oriented for system scanners.
Loads cartons on the conveyor and/or drop zone.
Places product in designated picking locations.
Places full pallet and partial pallet picks in designated areas.
Assists in unloading inbound freight and stages in proper staging areas.
Assists in loading outbound trucks.
Counts to make sure inbound and outbound freight has correct full pallet, case quantities.
Inspects cartons/pallets for damage.
Prepares product for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and type of product is loaded for shipment.
Ensures that receipts/orders are complete and counts verified.
Uses various devices for picking (scanners and Pick-To-Voice).
Inspects all books for damage and corrects quantity that is rejected at the QC scale.
Inspects and packs special orders.
Maintains various quality control reports that monitor picking accuracy by picker.
Returns over picks and mispicks to the Pick Module.
Keeps lead or supervisor advised of any shortages, problems, and incorrect labels/markings.
Packs books/components in cartons using various dunnage materials to eliminate damage in transit.
Ensures that all work instructions are followed exactly and updates the lead or supervisor when completed.
Uses computer systems and instructions to return the product to inventory.
Ensures the accuracy of all receipt/shipping documents.
Ensures the receipt/shipping counts match all documents and bill of ladings.
Assists in resolving any discrepancies.
Assists in cycle counting.
Retrieves books from Pick Module and rack storage to complete order.
Puts away stock in assigned locations.
Unloads trucks with rolling equipment.
Stages stock in assigned P&D locations, full case picks to assigned P&D location using equipment and doing it physically.
Removes plastic covering from skids/pallets of books using a box cutter.
Restacks pallets of books from one pallet to another.
Uses WMS to record moves and transfers stock.
Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
Conducts operations in a manner which promotes safety.
Enforces established safety, health, and housekeeping policies and procedures in order to minimize injuries, loss of production time, and damage.

The Sales Yard/Stockpile Loader Operator is responsible for efficiently and safely operating a loader to manage materials within a sales yard or stockpile area. This role involves loading, unloading, and organizing materials such as aggregates, recycling and other construction materials. The operator ensures that materials are properly stored, ready for sale or distribution, and maintains a neat and organized yard environment.
What You'll Do:
