Under general supervision, the Equipment Operator utilizes and operates a variety of tools and material-moving equipment used in the maintenance and repair of streets, water and sewer lines, collection and transportation of solid waste, Inert landfill, transfer station and other utility facilities and services. Uses operating skills, learned safe practices and awareness of the area surrounding the unit of equipment to avoid injury or damage to persons or property. Uses spotters, flaggers or helpers as needed to maintain a safe working environment.? Inspects equipment prior and after use in order to identify needed maintenance or repairs, and reports repair needs to appropriate personnel for scheduling repairs.
