Essential functions:
The Heavy Equipment Operator must be able to operate bulldozers, front load loaders, excavators, etc. A hydraulic license is necessary.
Ability to adhere to safety guidelines of heavy equipment
Understands and knows how to read plans
work efficiently with minimal supervision
Required education and experience:
Valid Driver's License
Valid Massachusetts Hydraulics License
Minimum of two years' experience operating heavy machinery

Job Description
The Town of Brookline DPW Department is seeking reliable and skilled Heavy Motor Equipment Operators (MEO II) to join our Highway and Sanitation Division. This position performs a variety of manual and skilled labor tasks related to road maintenance, sanitation, snow and ice operations, and the operation of heavy equipment.
We currently have two unique shift opportunities available:
Afternoon/Evening Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, includes one weekend day.
Overnight Street Sweeping Shift: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM, includes one weekend day.
These shifts may be ideal for applicants seeking alternative work hours.
Responsibilities:
Duties include operating dump trucks, front-end loaders, street sweepers, sanitation packers, and other heavy vehicles and equipment; transporting personnel and materials; performing pothole, sidewalk, and road repairs; and conducting regular vehicle inspections. Responsibilities also include trash, yard waste, and dumpster collection, snow plowing and sanding, and supporting emergency response operations as needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
1-2 years of experience operating heavy trucks and equipment, preferably in construction, utility, roadway, or sanitation work
Experience in snow and ice operations preferred
Valid Massachusetts CDL, Class B
Valid MA Hoisting Engineer's License
