Videos Duties Help As a Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer for equipment maintenance this position is to perform maintenance and repair work on automobiles, trucks, tractors and other heavy equipment including gasoline, diesel engines and other mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and electronically controlled systems. The incumbent will be responsible for maintenance and repair to park vehicles and large and small construction equipment. Prepare daily and monthly reports using the computer with such programs as Word, Excel and the Facility Management Software Systems. Complete requisitions for parts and supplies. Troubleshoots and repairs components and systems such as engines, transmissions, differentials, transaxles, hydraulics, electronic fuel injection, emissions systems Incumbent will also be responsible for inspecting, repairing and overhauling small and large engines and other components on items such as lawn mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws, pumps, ATV's and all other related park equipment. Removes and installs accessory items, such as lights, radios, gun racks, toolboxes and ladder racks. Some positions may involve maintenance way of work on the Cuyahoga Valley National Railroad which includes equipment operations, mechanical repairs, mowing along the railroad, clearing line of sights, tree trimming, and removal. The incumbent frequently lifts, handles, and carries parts and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally moves moderately heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance or with mechanical devices. Working Conditions: Work is usually performed inside on concrete surfaces where there is exposure to drafts, noise, - and fumes from vehicles. Occasionally the work may be performed outside under adverse weather conditions. The incumbent is continually exposed to dirt, dust and grease. The potential for bums, chemical irritations, shocks, bruises, cuts, and strains. To reduce the dangers and irritations from these conditions, the incumbent-follows prescribed safety practice and uses safety equipment such as safety shoes and glasses, and respirators. Shift: 6:00AM-8:00PM Monday-Friday, occasional Saturdays Responsibilities of Position: Perform repair and maintenance of heavy equipment in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies Service equipment per company maintenance schedules and/or from equipment daily inspection reports Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and make necessary repairs, adjustments, or replacements Perform emergency repairs on breakdowns Inspect, lubricate, fuel and service equipment Check, fill, and/or change appropriate fluids for all equipment parts and check/change filters Inspect, diagnose, and repair equipment support systems, such as electrical, hydraulic, suspension, air, and brake systems Identify, perform repairs, and make adjustments to various components and operating systems on the equipment or related components Ensure all safety devices on equipment are in good working order Perform routine welding repairs to equipment Maintain accurate repair orders, parts usage, and repair times through the utilization of a computerized system Perform routine housekeeping duties related to materials, tools, shop, and work areas to maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with company and OSHA standards Professional interaction with internal and external customers Other duties as assigned Skills & Abilities Needed for Position: Experience using repair manuals, wiring (electrical) diagrams, and schematics necessary to troubleshoot or repair equipment or component failure Excellent mechanical aptitude in heavy equipment maintenance and repair Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward positions and tight areas) Must be able to lift and carry weights exceeding 50 pounds Ability to work in all weather conditions Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers Must possess necessary tools to perform assigned tasks Familiarity with using a computer Additional Working Conditions/Aspects: Must be at least 19 years of age. Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas. Exposure to residential and commercial waste. Ability to work flexible hours; overtime, weekends, and/or holidays. Ability to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays. Legally eligible to work in the United States. Valid driver's license (if applicable). Must successfully complete pre-employment testing. Must be able to read and speak the English language.
