JOB SUMMARY
Rural King mechanics maintain diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements, correcting vehicle deficiencies; adjusting and alignments; keep records.
JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventative maintenance schedules.
Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling and, replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics. Completes machine shop operations, adjusting and alignments including beating loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches end fraction units.
Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventative maintenance; calling for repairs.
Contains cost by using warranty, evaluation service and parts options.
Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, verifying receipt.
Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Training new hires on job duties and tasks

QUALIFICATIONS
6+ months of experience working as a diesel mechanic.
Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.
Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills
Awareness of operational safety requirements and ability to apply and follow procedures and requirements per regulatory bodies.
Ability to detect technical malfunctions in the machines.
Sound understanding of using all repair tools, equipment, and testing machinery.

As a Diesel Technician, you'll be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel vehicles from F150's to F750's and E series models. Here at Captial Ford of Columbus we see all makes and models and many unique heavy-duty trucks from motorhomes to service bodies. Responsibilities
Perform diesel engine diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance
Inspect vehicle systems including suspensions, brakes, and electrical
Accurately document work performed and parts used
Follow manufacturer and dealership standards and procedures
Communicate effectively with service advisors and team members
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Requirements
Ford Diesel Certification (preferred) or ability to obtain
Experience with Ford Power Stroke diesel engines
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a fast-paced environment
ASE Certifications (preferred)
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Responsibilities Include but not limited to:
Perform FAI and State required inspections.
Inspect and repair 'S' cam air brake systems.
Diagnose and repair anti-lock brake systems.
Perform repairs to commercial trailers and converter dollies in all potential aspects.
Perform skilled repair and maintenance of commercial transportation trailers.
Comply with all company policies, local work and safety rules, as well as federal, state, and local regulations that govern the industry.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Diagnoses malfunctions and performs vehicle repairs (e.g. adjust/test steering, electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking systems, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, clutches, transmissions and oil, temperature, gas regulating components, adjust/test/rebuild engines etc.) and related assigned duties within qualification level, in accordance with all relevant Federal, State/Provincial and local guidelines and requirements. Test-drives vehicles to ensure repair resolved the problem.
Arranges for and obtains appropriate inspections and approval of all major repairs before vehicle is released from maintenance facility.
Maintains a safe, clean, productive and efficient work area including ensuring work area is in compliance with all relevant Federal, State/Provincial and local guidelines and requirements.
Identifies and reports any additional maintenance and/or repairs found necessary in conducting assigned repairs and maintenance including repairs and maintenance required to be performed by Technicians with a higher qualification level.
Records time spent, parts used and repairs and/or maintenance conducted on appropriate form.
Performs road calls and on the road repairs as assigned.
Advises Lead Technician of unsafe maintenance conditions or practices and/or vehicle abuse.
