KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Performs inspections, evaluates non-destructive testing results, and assists with fitness-for-service evaluations on refinery equipment (such as, but not limited to tanks, heaters, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, boilers, piping, pressure relief valves) to ensure mechanical integrity, safety, and reliability.
+ Ensures construction and repairs comply with all applicable codes, industry practices, and MPC standards.
+ Analyzes inspection findings, prepares reports, and generates repair/upgrade/modify recommendations based on inspection findings.
+ Collaborates with Engineering and Maintenance to establish inspection scope and intervals.
+ Prepares inspection plans and intervals using electronic databases and RBI software.
+ Performs calculations of remaining life and corrosion rates.

The CAD Drafter Intern is responsible for the development of complete and accurate 2D CAD models, drawings, and design documents for systems using AutoCAD and other Computer Aided Design software tools. Read and comprehend design drawings and equipment data sheets.

Bakken Overview
The Bakken trend is a sequence of liquids-rich sand and shale layers in the Williston Basin, which stretches across western North Dakota and into Canada. The company's position in the Bakken development area is comprised of approximately 790,000 net unconventional acres, which include 382,000 net mineral acres and 180,000 net leasehold acres. The company focuses on unconventional tight-oil play development and production in the most prolific portion of the basin.
During 2024, net production averaged 115 MBOED. We operated four rigs and one frac crew on average during 2024, resulting in 66 operated wells drilled and 83 operated wells brought online.
Position Overview
If you are selected as the Automation Technician, you will provide operations with troubleshooting and technical support for all instruments, programming, and automated equipment within the Bakken asset area. Instrumentation and automation services are a critical piece of the ongoing operations and maintenance of the Bakken Asset. You will be responsible for working safely at all times, swiftly completing maintenance work orders, troubleshooting issues that arise on well locations, checking functionality of instruments, and ensuring automation is properly executing programs as defined in cause and effects. You will work closely with a team of technicians, specialists, & leads, engineering, and operations in support of these field assets.
This is a Safety Sensitive position.

Detailed Description:
Lift and place slips weighing approximately 150 pounds with another person occasionally during the tour work shift
Independently use heavy-duty handheld and long-handled tools
Listen for unusual noises that signify equipment and machinery problems
Maintain spatial orientation and awareness to safely move around work environment with many moving objects
Take initiative and work independently during downtime
Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times which could include but is not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, coveralls, work gloves, respirator, and hearing protection
Regularly inspect, maintain, and repair generators, equipment, and SCR or VFD house
Responsible for hydraulic and electrical systems and equipment
Ensure that all preventative maintenance is performed on all equipment and that all log sheets and maintenance sheets are filled out correctly and are up to date on all required equipment
Responsible for daily inspection of the following: working order of all main engines, air compressors and air system, electrical equipment, BOP and accumulator, engine radiators, circulating water pumps, oil transfer pumps, and the running order and blow down of the boiler
Work in a heavy industrial environment which includes working around constantly moving overhead machinery, being in close proximity to loud equipment and handling potentially hazardous chemicals

Southern states generally experience hot summers where temperatures range from 80° to low 100° with high humidity; winters have temperatures that generally do not go below 20°. Northern states generally have hot summers with similar conditions and have cold, windy winters, with low temperatures that can be as cold as -40°.

The intern/co-op program may consist of any number of work sessions. Multiple sessions give interns/co-ops the ability to rotate between the different L&S components in order to gain exposure to the various business segments and to offer a variety of assignments with increasing responsibility. Intern/Co-ops will gain experience in the 5 phases of the Marathon Project Management Process (MPMP) including Conceptual, Feasibility, Definition, Implementation, and Start-up/Close-out.

Marathon Petroleum Company is seeking a dedicated, team-oriented Refining Inspector to join our Mandan Refinery team. The Refining Inspector is responsible for inspecting and evaluating refinery pressure equipment and piping to ensure safety, mechanical integrity, and reliability. This role ensures compliance with all applicable pressure equipment laws, regulations, and relevant company and industry codes, standards, and recommended practices.
Based in Mandan, ND, this position reports to the Inspection Manager within the Maintenance Department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs inspections, evaluates non-destructive testing results, and assists with fitness-for-service evaluations on refinery equipment (such as, but not limited to tanks, heaters, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, boilers, piping, pressure relief valves) to ensure mechanical integrity, safety, and reliability.
Ensures construction and repairs comply with all applicable codes, industry practices, and MPC standards.
Analyzes inspection findings, prepares reports, and generates repair/upgrade/modify recommendations based on inspection findings.
Collaborates with Engineering and Maintenance to establish inspection scope and intervals.
Prepares inspection plans and intervals using electronic databases and RBI software.
Performs calculations of remaining life and corrosion rates.
Generates turnaround work scope in collaboration with Engineering, Reliability, Operations, Maintenance, and Tech Services.
Assists in the planning and execution of inspection activities during turnarounds.
Coordinates services of contract inspectors.
Ensures all inspections are completed in their assigned area of responsibility.
Evaluates contract inspector reports and NDE results.
Coordinates failure analysis activities and provides recommendations for mitigation methods.
Collaborates with Operations, Tech Service, and Reliability on development and implementation of risk-based routine and preventive maintenance procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in refining, petrochemical, or a related industry preferred.
Must possess a current API 510 or API 570 certification. If both are not currently possessed, must be able to obtain the other within 2 years of employment.
Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
Valid driver's license required.
Must be available to provide on-call and extended shutdown support as required, including nights and weekends.
