What You Will Do
As an Electrical Engineering Technologist, you will collaborate in a team environment to design and support industrial electrical systems, which includes various types of equipment new and old.
Specific responsibilities include:
Modify solutions to improve equipment reliability, safety, ergonomics, and compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 450001, and other EHS initiatives.
Provide technical support to Production, Maintenance, and IT departments, reducing downtime and improving system performance.
Maintain, modify and update PLC, VFD, and HMI programs using various control automation platforms, including Rockwell, Siemens, and Beijer.
Update and support National Instruments LabVIEW code for testing applications and equipment.
Interface with engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, IT, MES, and Production teams to support facility projects.

The GF Environmental, Health, Safety, & Security (EHS&S) department is looking for a 2025 intern with strong communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and desire to learn. The EHS&S department is focused on ensuring the safety of GF colleagues, contractors, visitors, and the environment through consultation, participation, and collaboration.
Essential Responsibilities include:
* Conducting hazard communication (HAZCOM) assessments, documenting observations, and taking appropriate action(s),
* Performing confined space reassessments, including updating space documentation and communication/signage,
* Performing area/task-specific hazard assessments to drive continuous EHS&S improvements,
* Assisting with performing ionizing radiation inspections,
Other Responsibilities:
* Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
Required Qualifications:
* Education - At least a sophomore at time of application and actively pursuing a Bachelor's in Environmental, Health & Safety or related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship.
* Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.
* Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)
* Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Prior related internship or co-op experience
* Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.
* Project management skills, i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Strong planning & organizational skills
* Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Accountabilities: Accountable for general understanding and following SOP's & WI's related to job duties while supporting 6S practices.
Authorities: As designated or delegated by the Program Manager
Duties: Project duties will be determined by the Program Manager. Possible tasks may include:
Updating database information
Creating metric charts to track current project results
Supporting continuous improvement efforts
Documenting processes of operations
Developing training material to support documented processes
Working with individuals to provide engineering/technical support to improving methods for manufacturing
Creating CAD models to support manufacturing efforts
Starting and updating drawings to better reflect current models
Job Qualification Requirements:
Educational Experience - Pursuing a BS degree in a technically related field, and must be completing sophomore or junior academic year currently.
Experience - Must have experience with Microsoft Suite, CAD software (preferably Inventor), general coursework regarding engineering.
Physical Demands - The employee is required to:
stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor,
exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently.

Visual Acuity - Near acuity and accommodation are required for reading.

What You'll Do
As an EHS Intern, you will:
Assist in conducting safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
