Works closely with Operations and Technical personnel to ensure that drawings are updated in keeping with equipment modifications; to provide counsel for equipment redesign; and, to secure information necessary for the performance of the position.
Works with equipment suppliers and outside engineering to specify design requirements for new / modified equipment to improve operating performance and / or equipment reliability.
Coordinates the establishment of requirements, standards, and procedures for the equipment inspection; works closely with departmental inspectors and with the non-destructive testing / predictive technologies group for the proper, timely inspection testing of equipment as part of the overall effort to prevent for departmental spares ensuring inventory control; the maintenance and repair of such spares and the establishment of procedures to control spares and the establishment of procedures to control spares costs.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Technical field with 5 to 7 years of professional experience, or 10 + years of professional experience in lieu of a degree.
Demonstrated equipment reliability knowledge.

Experience using an electronic Maintenance Repair Software System, and Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Basic Job Functions: As Steel Detailer/BIM Modeler, you will be responsible for detailing all parts of metal building systems, including structural steel, wall and roof panel, and trim to ensure all components fit together correctly as part of a complete design solution. This will include:
Creating construction drawings using our highly specialized software
Generating and verifying fabrication drawings and reports
Generating bill of materials for field construction
Designing and troubleshooting standardized steel framing conditions with project specific requests
Ensuring a quality product by thorough contract and design coordination

Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
Coordinate maintenance priorities with production leadership to support operational goals and schedules.
Promote and enforce a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the maintenance department.
Develop and train maintenance personnel to enhance technical skills and ensure readiness for plant demands.
Support equipment upgrades, installations, and improvement projects to optimize plant performance.
Maintain accurate maintenance documentation, equipment history, and spare parts inventory management.
ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise and direct maintenance technicians in performing repairs, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on extrusion and manufacturing equipment.
Plan, schedule, and prioritize maintenance work orders in coordination with production leadership to meet operational goals.
Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities, including equipment logs, PM checklists, and parts usage.
Lead root cause analysis of equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing safety policies, conducting regular inspections, and ensuring proper use of tools and PPE.
Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Quality departments to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Monitor maintenance performance metrics (downtime, PM completion rates, work order backlog) and recommend process improvements.
Manage parts inventory and coordinate with purchasing to maintain critical spares.
Train, coach, and develop maintenance team members to build technical skills and promote a culture of accountability.
Participate in capital project planning and equipment installation as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED required; technical or associate degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Experience with extrusion or plastics manufacturing equipment preferred.
Proficiency in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) usage and maintenance planning.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
