Overview The Longshoreman (General Laborer - TCA) is responsible for the loading, unloading, moving or handling of cargo; (container, bulk, breakbulk, shipping containers, oil barrels, gear, or any other materials / cargo) into, in, on, or out of any vessel and/or train in a responsible, safe and efficient manner.
The Longshoreman may preform other duties as instructed and/or assigned by the Gang Foreman.

Assist with loading and unloading cargo from vessels, trucks, and rail Support inventory counts, tagging, and documentation Work closely with checkers, crane operators, and dock supervisors Follow all safety protocols and terminal procedures Communicates verbally or uses hand signals.
May instruct Yard Hustler Drivers on specific location to line up Yard Hustler in order for the crane to be able to load or offload the container.
May be required to communicate via hand held radio.

May engage and disengage automatic locks (15-20 lbs.
) which are set in between the containers to hold in place during transport and place in gearbox.
May be required to place or remove dunnage including but not limited to under blades, buckets, or other attachments that would rest on transport surface.

Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Assist Supervisor in sweeping, cleaning and maintaining a clean facility inside and outside.
Performing other duties as assigned by direct supervisor or department manager.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand;kneel; squat; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; Must be able to push, pull or carry up to thirty pounds. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs. Must be able to utilize hand tools and operator controls.
