The Driver Helper works as part of a team alongside a Route Driver to assist in the safe and efficient collection of waste and/or recyclable materials from residential and commercial locations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other related duties may be assigned. Work in full compliance with Waste Management Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA regulations, and all local, state, and federal requirements. Immediately report any unsafe conditions, service issues, or hazards to the Route Manager or Dispatch. Manually or mechanically load and empty residential and/or commercial containers into the collection truck. Operate or assist with operating hoisting devices to lift and empty bins into the truck hopper. Serve as a spotter and assist the driver during all backing maneuvers. Notify the Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage. Report service interruptions (e.g., closed roads, blocked access, overweight containers, or safety hazards) to the Route Manager or Dispatch. Communicate customer requests or service concerns promptly to Dispatch or the Route Manager. Perform all assigned duties as scheduled and assist other routes or drivers as directed to meet operational needs. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Less than 1 year of prior experience in the field. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States. Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check (including employment and criminal history). Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
