QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS
Minimum two years of on the job experience, demonstrated knowledge of blueprint reading, ship terminology and different metals required. Good burning, welding and craftsmanship skills. Mechanical ability preferred. T-1 welding certificate required for FCAW (flux core), SMAW (stick) optional but highly recommended. Ability to pass hands on assessment test conducted by NASSCO. Must be able to work at heights, in confined spaces, and on any assigned shift. Must comprehend written and verbal instructions (in English). Must be able to hear warning signals, read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations and warnings.

This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the hourly range for this role. Works as member of the parks forestry road crew performing tree/brush hazard removal operations. Operates tree removal equipment to include chain saws, brush chipper, pruning saws, and stump cutter/gobbler. Under direct/close supervision and following directions, helps journeyman tree workers by assisting in felling, jacking, wedging, flushing, trimming, pruning and/or removal, and rigging which consists of applying cable and/or nylon straps and iron snatch blocks to anchor tree for pulling. Repairs damaged turf from tree and stump removal. Assists in planting, pruning, shearing and general maintenance or repair of landscapes associated with project work. Treats stumps and hand-loads dump trucks. Performs a variety of manual labor tasks associated with the forestry and roads operations such as handling asphalt by shovel and rake, cleaning ditch lines and culverts, roadside brushing, sweeping and traffic flagging.
Physical Effort: The incumbent is required to use heavy physical effort to operate chain saws, and to move logs, brush, etc. Frequent lifting and moving objects weighing up to 75 pounds is required while loading trucks, handling equipment, moving limbs, etc. The work performed frequently involves standing for long periods of time, walking long distances in difficult terrain, bending, stooping, climbing, lifting and working in awkward positions/environments.
Working Conditions: Work is performed outside in a variety of vegetation types, elevations and conditions. Terrain ranges from flat to steep, rocky, and covered in downed logs, limbs, and vegetation. Work is occasionally performed in bad weather and often in extreme temperatures. Special care must be taken when operating equipment. The incumbent is continually exposed to dirt, saw dust, petroleum products, falling limbs/trees, etc. To reduce the dangers from these conditions, the incumbent follows prescribed safety practices and uses safety equipment.

The Pacific West Region is recruiting for TEMPORARY seasonal positions not to exceed 1039 hours work in a service year. Dates of employment will vary between sites depending on funding, weather conditions and visitation. Within regulatory limitations, the length of initial appointment may be shortened or extended depending on work availability and funding. Duty Location is:
* Yosemite National Park
Under the close direction of at least a grade 10 journey-level position, incumbent will assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems by performing duties such as lifting, carrying, and handing tools and equipment to the journey-level employee; helping to diagnose, repair, assemble, and install electrical components; helping to cut and thread electrical conduit according to clear instructions; cutting or drilling previously marked holes in walls; using test equipment to provide preliminary electrical readings; digging trenches or holes for installation of conduit or supports; maintaining electrical work logs; etc.
Assist in the installation, maintenance, and/or repair of high-voltage (above 600 volts) electric power control equipment, distribution lines, or electric-generating equipment.
Assist with the disassembly, repair, reassembly, and/or testing of electrical equipment.
Perform various laboring duties that require moderate physical effort. Regularly and routinely lift up to 50 pounds as part of electrician related duties. May be required to use chainsaws to clear hazards from electrical lines.
Clean work areas and tools in order to maintain a safe and orderly workshop.
Complete appropriate data entry in automated software systems required for electrical projects.
Dig ditches for repair and installation of electrical lines.
Physical Effort:
This position may be required to perform electrical work from ladders, scaffolds, platforms, and other cramped and hard-to-reach places. Duties may require the incumbent to sit, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, crawl, and work in uncomfortable positions. The incumbent may be exposed to electrical shock, spark and arc hazard, and other health hazards. If the incumbent is assigned to perform electrical work in remote locations, the incumbent may be required to walk, hike, or drive over rough and uneven terrain. Working Conditions:
