HVAC Helper Reports To: HVAC Supervisor The HVAC Helper assists the HVAC Foreman with the installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems on construction sites. This position provides hands-on support with material handling, equipment setup, and installation tasks while contributing to jobsite safety, organization, and productivity. The HVAC Helper plays an important role in supporting quality workmanship and timely completion of HVAC installation projects for Ames Mechanical. Essential Functions/Responsibilities Assist the HVAC Foreman with the installation of HVAC systems, including ductwork, furnaces, air handlers, condensing units, piping, and related components. Support jobsite setup, material staging, and equipment preparation. Measure, cut, assemble, and install HVAC materials under supervision. Help install duct systems, hangers, grilles, registers, and equipment supports. Transport tools, materials, and equipment to and from job sites. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite at all times. Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and jobsite safety procedures. Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently under direction. Assist with equipment setting, fastening, sealing, and insulation. Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Communicate effectively with the HVAC Foreman and crew regarding task progress and material needs. Perform additional duties as assigned by the HVAC Foreman or supervisor. Qualifications Associate Degree in HVAC & Refrigeration Technology preferred. Prior construction or mechanical experience preferred. Willingness and ability to perform physically demanding work. Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds. Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure. Mechanical aptitude and interest in HVAC installation work. Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented. Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (MVR background check required).
