+ Under direct supervision, prepares dialysis and Reverse Osmosis equipment before each hemodialysis session; cleans and sterilizes machines per protocol after each dialysis session; delivers equipment and supplies to patient room as scheduled; assists nurse with set up and break down of equipment in patient room before and after hemodialysis; performs quality control procedures (e.g., machine and water testing, routine maintenance) on machines; performs supply inventory, ordering and restocking; works cooperatively with staff and other departments in maintaining hemodialysis standards of care; supports compliance with departmental policies and procedures; maintains confidentiality.
+ May assist RN with annulation and removal of needles from grafts and fistulas.
+ May initiate and discontinue hemodialysis treatments under the RN supervision in the dialysis unit only.
