ATHLETIC TRAINER - CASUAL
Provide Athletic Training Services to student athletes under the direction of the team physician or referring physician in accordance with PA State Athletic Training Practice Act which is governed by the PA State Board of Medicine and State Board of Osteopathic Medicine for athletic event coverage for high school, college, club sports, or intramural events. The Athletic Trainer will act as a liaison between the school community, parents, attending physician or specialist in referring student athlete for injury treatment The term includes the rendering of emergency care, development of injury prevention programs and providing appropriate preventative programs and protective devices for the physically active person. The term also includes the assessment, management, treatment, rehabilitation and recondition of the physically active person whose conditions are within the professional preparation and education of a Certified Athletic Trainer. The term also includes the use of modalities such as mechanical stimulation, heat, cold, light, air, water, electricity, sound, massage and the use of therapeutic exercises, reconditioning exercises and fitness programs. The Certified Athletic Trainer is expected to observe the domains of Athletic Training Established by the NATA) National Athletic Trainers Association). In the clinical setting: Performs basic direct patient care activities in a physician office or therapy setting. This includes rooming patients, medical history taking, and brief physical assessment ordering of appropriate x-rays for physician. Application and removal of cast and splints, removal of sutures, local treatment of wounds, apply modalities, exercises instruction (pre and post- operative). Gait training, crutch fitting, orthotics, and answer patient questions within the education of an Athletic Trainer. Fills out all appropriate forms for physician to complete the orders of the physician to the patient.
