In 1946, Henderson Manufacturing was founded by Ollie Henderson in Cedar Rapids, IA to manufacture agricultural attachments and spreading equipment.
Founded by Dean L. Fisher in Rockland, Maine, in 1948, Fisher originally manufactured snowplows designed for Willys jeep vehicles, the iconic pre-cursors to the Jeep® brand owned by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles today.
In 1950, Douglas Seaman purchased the Company and changed the name to Western Products.
In early 1965, an office was opened in Nieuw-Vennep in the Netherlands with 5 staff to deal with the growing sales of doors and sliding gear into Europe.
A site was found in Bowburn, County Durham and in 1969, the dedicated Henderson factory was fully open and the first doors were rolling off the production lines.
In 1977, Douglas Seaman created Douglas Dynamics, which became the parent company for Western Welding & Manufacturing.
Fisher Engineering joined Douglas Dynamics in 1984, uniting the two premier brands in the industry.
In 2008 the Garage door business is sold allowing PC Henderson Ltd to concentrate on developing sliding door gear solutions which is world renown for quality and service.
Douglas Dynamics successfully completed an initial public offering (IPO) in May 2010 and today trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "PLOW" (NYSE:PLOW).
Following the success of its earlier acquisitions, Douglas Dynamics purchased Dejana Truck & Utility Equipment in July 2016 as part of its strategy to diversify its business outside of snow and ice control.
After winning two regional heats across March and April 2018 - P C Henderson was then selected by the North East Chamber of Commerce to represent the region at the national finals in December 2018.
In March 2020 P C Henderson made the decision to close its UK office and factory operations after the Prime Minister – Boris Johnson – announced a national lockdown in the UK to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 due to the rapid increase of positive cases.
