We are currently seeking a Pharmacy Tech to join our Hospital Inpatient Pharmacy team. This position is casual (no benefits) and will work rotating day/evening shifts, and every other weekend Purpose of this position: Performs a variety of technical and clerical pharmacy duties allowed by law under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. Fosters and maintains a positive image of the pharmacy within the hospital and in the community
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Accurately prepares, packages, labels, and delivers medications after they are checked by a registered pharmacist, intern, or qualified technician checker
* Correctly performs pharmaceutical calculations to ensure correct doses are dispensed
* Aseptically prepares IV admixtures and other sterile products as requested (when trained)
* Triages pharmacy phone calls and resolves issues as able
* Inspects and maintains medication supply throughout the facility. Removes and replaces outdated medications from the pharmacy, clinics, nursing stations, and Automated Dispensing Cabinets
* Possesses strong interpersonal skills, is a team player, and promotes a positive team environment
* Demonstrates good decision making skills, problem solving techniques, and possesses the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
* Maintains and improves pharmacy workflow
* Performs patient charging and other pharmacy financial activities when needed
* Uses and maintains pharmacy equipment, medication rooms, and work areas according to approved procedures
* Performs additional pharmacy technician duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or GED

* Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program or a 240-hour employer-based Technician training Program or 1,000 hours of Pharmacy experience

Manipulate and dispense hazardous and non-hazardous medications per department procedure. Apply critical thinking in all situations, seeking guidance from other technicians and pharmacists as required while achieving an appropriate level of independence.
Achieve and maintain competency in at least one specialized pharmacy function, including but not limited to: vaccine administration, pharmacy buying, specialty pharmacy fulfillment, drug diversion management and REMS programs.
Specialty Technicians: Serves as a liaison between physician clinic staff, specialty pharmacy, and other stakeholders to develop and maintain a strong and collaborative partnership between the businesses. Identifies opportunities for the Stormont Vail Specialty Pharmacy to partner with prescribers in the development of new initiatives and avenues of service.
