Henry County School District company history timeline
In the year 1848, there were two flourishing schools in McDonough, one for boys and the other for girls.
In the spring of 1864, Misses Margaret Dailey and Martha Cox opened school again and had a very good school until circumstances forced them to close again.
The next white school was opened in the year 1867.
About the year 1870, the public school system was introduced.
The building of a railroad to McDonough made it the logical home of the county paper, and the plant was moved to McDonough in 1883.
The establishment of the original Dutchtown School is recorded in the Board of Education minutes on March 7, 1904.
On January 9, 1905, the City Schools of McDonough, under the supervision of the Board of Education, opened with 160 students in attendance in the primary grades, grammar school and high school levels.
Fouche conducted the editorial and business management of the paper until 1907.

The Steinway Piano which was purchased by the PTA in 1950 from the Brown Family in McDonough was refurbished during the renovation period and proudly holds a place of honor in the Boardroom.
