PRINCPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES: * Performs specialized duties such as hazardous drug compounding, medication history, nuclear, and Patient Assistance Program (PAP) as a pharmacy technician. * Refills and maintains automated dispensing system. Prepares orders, maintains inventory, and repackages bulk medications. Receives and stores incoming supplies. * Serves as a liaison between pharmacy, patient and health professionals by providing necessary information. Communicates with external resources such as retail pharmacies, provider officers, and data exchanges. * Identifies and assists with patient medication access including, benefit investigation, prior authorization, and financial assistance. * Assists Pharmacist in preparation of patient education materials. * May give immunizations in accordance with state laws. * May serve as pharmacist extender in situations such as Caregiver Model of the Future responsibilities. May monitor compliance with regulatory standards and be responsible for inventory and drug shortage management and optimization. GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician is responsible for, but not limited to, preparing pharmacy orders including filling and sterile compounding pursuant to a valid physician prescription. Assists pharmacist with communication, clinical monitoring, documentation, and oversight of patient care coordination. Assist in the stocking and storage of Inventory as well as assisting in the maintenance of environmental controls and collection of compliance data. May require a weekend/holiday on-call component based on operating needs of Henry Ford Home Infusion. Routinely interacts and communicates with the public. GENERAL SUMMARY: The inpatient pharmacy technician works under the supervision of a pharmacist and assists in the preparation of medications for patients. The pharmacy technician receives medication orders, enters medication orders into the pharmacy computer system, prepares medications and labels for dispensing, delivers medications to patient care areas, maintains drug inventory in dispensing areas, maintains appropriate records and processes medication charges for services rendered. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Requires high school diploma or GED. Requires a Pharmacy Technician License from the State of Michigan. 6 months pharmacy experience preferred. Must have the ability use a computer keyboard and type approximately 25 words per minute. Must be able to work with a wide variety of people under sometimes stressful situations, and be motivated to provide high quality patient care.
