Join the HJF Team! HJF is seeking a ResearchAssociate I to perform research and/or development in collaboration with other scientific and technical staff. Exercises technical discretion in the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project strategies. Performs limited analysis and interpretation of results.
This position will be in support of the Naval Medical Research Unit San Antonio (NAMRU-SA) at Fort Sam Houston. NAMRU-SA is a major research and development center whose mission is to conduct gap driven combat casualty care, craniofacial, and directed energy research, to improve survival, operational readiness, and safety of Department of Defense (DoD) personnel engaged in routine and expeditionary operations. Its purpose is to provide non-personal support services to NAMRU-SA. Performance will include intramural research and development (R&D) support services for four (4) scientific directorates and their respective departments: Directed Energy Health Effects Directorate (DEHE), Combat Casualty Care and Operational Medicine Directorate (CCC&OM), Craniofacial Health and Restorative Medicine Directorate (CH&RM), and Research Services Directorate (RSD).
This effort primarily entails investigative studies which involve planning, coordinating, designing, and executing experimental protocols that meet both directorate-level research objectives and the command mission.

Position Information
Under general supervision, the ResearchAssociate (RA) will provide technical support for breeding and research work to the professional staff. The RA will evaluate, select, and apply standard and advanced scientific techniques used in the field, greenhouse, and laboratory functions. Responsibilities:
Conducts seed and land preparation and planting of research trials and breeding nurseries in the field and greenhouse, manages the crop growth through the season (e.g., irrigation, fertilization, and pesticide application), and harvests for yield or plant samples.

About the Lab
We are currently seeking a proactive Research Specialist to support the lab of Dr. Keiko Torii at the University of Texas at Austin in Austin, Texas.
The Torii lab studies how functional tissue patterns are formed during plant development. We have uncovered key genes, regulatory networks, and signal transduction pathways underpinning the patterning and differentiation of stomata, cellular valves that support our life and sustenance. We are now expanding our research to uncover how environmental stress conditions impact stomatal patterning and differentiation by utilizing transcriptomic and epigenomic, and single cell approaches -work that has broad implications for agricultural sustainability in a changing climate.

About the Role
This role is approximately 80% research-focused and 20% management-focused, offering a unique balance between independent scientific work and lab operations leadership.
The successful candidate will conduct high-resolution NGS-based analyses to investigate environmental and hormonal control of plant stem cell differentiation. You should be proficient in bulk and single-cell RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, and/or ATAC-seq analyses and standard bioinformatics pipelines. Experience with plant sample preparation and related molecular techniques is highly desirable.
In addition to hands-on research, the Research Specialist will collaborate closely with the PI and lab members to train staff in experimental and computational NGS pipelines, coordinate data management with the Texas Advanced Computing Center, and contribute to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative lab culture.

Prairie View A&M University invites applications to apply for the position of tenured, Associate Professor of Research Methodology, and Doctoral Program Coordinator within the Department of Educational Leadership and Counseling (ELAC). The successful candidate will teach graduate research courses in the Ph.D. program in Educational Leadership, contributing to the preparation of educational leaders who will become scholar practitioners. The Associate Professor of Research Methodology, and Doctoral Program Coordinator will serve as the coordinator for the Ph.D. in Educational Leadership program.
The salary is determined in accordance with the University's compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates' education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.
Responsibilities:
Teaching and Instruction
Teach graduate-level courses in educational research methods, qualitative and quantitative research design, data analysis, and program evaluation for doctoral students.
Deliver instruction at multiple locations including the Prairie View campus, Northwest Houston Center, and/or online platforms.
Develop and maintain current, engaging course materials that reflect best practices in educational research.
Mentor doctoral students in their dissertation research and scholarly development.
Facilitate mini-mester courses designed for accelerated learning experiences.
Scholarly Activities
Engage in scholarly research and publication in educational leadership and research methodology.
Collaborate with faculty colleagues on research projects and grant proposals.
Present research findings at professional conferences and meetings.
Service and Professional Engagement
Serve on departmental and college committees as assigned.
Participate in program assessment and continuous improvement initiatives.
Advise doctoral students on academic and professional matters.
Maintain active involvement in professional organizations related to educational research and leadership.
Support recruitment and retention efforts for the doctoral program.
Required Education and Experience:
Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership, Educational Research, Curriculum and Instruction, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
3-5 years of experience teaching graduate-level courses in educational research methods or related areas.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated expertise in quantitative and/or qualitative research methodologies.
Record of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals, grant procurement, and/or sponsored programs.
Demonstrated experience coordinating doctoral level degree programs.
Knowledge or experience within the Research I Institution context.
Strong knowledge of research design, statistical analysis, and current research software (e.g., ATLAS.ti, MAXQDA, SPSS, NVivo, R, SAS).
Expertise in dissertation advising and mentorship of doctoral students.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency with learning management systems and online teaching platforms.
Commitment to excellence in teaching and student success.
Preferred Qualifications:
Record of successful grant acquisition and management.
Experience with mixed-methods research approaches.
Background in educational leadership practice (e.g., K-12 administration, higher education leadership, education policy).
Demonstrated ability to teach in flexible formats, including evenings, weekends, and intensive sessions.
Evidence of mentoring students from various backgrounds to successful degree completion.

Job Description
The Research Director will be responsible for the implementation of the curriculum consistent with the program philosophy, purposes and objectives and for ensuring the orderly progression and evaluation of students throughout the curriculum. This position will provide leadership and general supervision for the implementation of the curriculum and for promoting a functional teaching environment for the faculty. Also, this role is congruent with a 75% administrative and 25% teaching function.
As a member of the CON Executive Committee, the Director of Nursing Research (DNR) is responsible for the strategic direction of research and scholarly activities for faculty and students within the College of Nursing. The DNR will develop initiatives that will stimulate and support a culture of research and scholarship through the development of resources related to research design, grantsmanship, internal and external funding, statistical support, and dissemination of scholarly work. In collaboration with the Office of Research and Innovation the DNR will support PVAMU research initiatives and ensure research compliance with regulatory, human subjects, data integrity, and safety, fiscal, and contractual requirements for research and internal and extramurally funded projects. The DNR fosters continuous quality improvement through the evaluation process in the CON. In this role, the DNR will maintain their own program of research.
This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal or grant or restricted funding.
Responsibilities:
Provides oversight and monitors of pre- and post- grant award compliance.
Provides consultation to faculty and students on research and grant proposal preparation and start-up packages.
Collaborate with faculty, provides oversight in the preparation of and approves substantive and budgetary content of proposals submitted for intramural and extramural funding.
Serves as liaison and resource to CON academic and clinical partners.
Collaborates with CON and University personnel in publicizing and disseminating the accomplishments of faculty, professional staff, students, and alumni.
Works with the CON Search committee in the recruitment of faculty, both tenured, tenure-track and non-tenured faculty.
Provides service to the CON, PVAMU committees and professional organizations. Ability to teach across the curriculum as related to area of expertise and serves on doctoral student committees as appropriate.
Maintains competency as researcher, educator and administrator and engages in an active program of research.
Coordinates and manages financial, material, and human resources for the Office of Nursing Research in collaboration with the Dean.
Provides guidance in the development of and management of centers of nursing research within the CON in collaboration with the Dean.
Serves as a member of the CON Leadership Team with approval of the Dean.
Oversees and manages the duties/responsibilities of the ResearchAssociate and any student workers assigned to the Office of Nursing Research.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean.
Required Education & Experience:
Eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Texas
Earned research doctorate in nursing.
Must be eligible for a tenured appointment at the associate or full professor academic rank.
Evidence of sustained scholarly productivity including extramurally funded research, refereed publications, and scholarly presentations in a focused area of scholarship.
Record of progressive leadership and development within a health-related academic and/or research environment.
Administrative experience in directing activities and evaluating job performance.
Minimum of 7-10 years of teaching experience at the baccalaureate level or higher.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in program development, curriculum development and evaluation.
Service and leadership in nursing and health-related organizations and associations.

Position Information
We are seeking a Research Assistant to support soil science and soil microbiology research activities requiring an advanced level of knowledge and laboratory experience in soil science and soil microbiology. Learning requirements are predominantly intellectual and varied in character and require consistent use of discretion and judgment.
Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of research activities which include fieldwork, greenhouse experiments, laboratory analysis, and data analysis using statistical reference. Learning requirements are predominantly intellectual and varied in character and require consistent use of discretion and judgment.
Conducts soil analysis for microbiome, DNA extraction, designs and runs qPCR assays and bioinformatic skills to analyze microbiome sequence data.

Bachelor's degree in Soil Science or relevant field.

Position Information
We are seeking a Research Assistant in the AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Overton responsible for managing the beef productive physiology laboratory and performs quantitative analysis of blood sera for hormones using radioimmunoassay procedures.
Responsibilities:
Duties will include but are not limited to:
Coordinate and conduct endocrine assays, tissue culture, extraction of DNA and RNA, and protein gel electrophoresis,
Maintenance of inventory and purchasing of supplies and equipment,
Prepare chemical solutions,
Train and supervise graduate and undergraduate students in safe laboratory procedures,
Assist in blood and tissue collection, animal surgery, and experiment-related animal husbandry procedures.
Responsible for working with a variety of scientists, including principal investigators, graduate students, and technical support staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
B.S. in relevant field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Must be able to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and use computer applications (including Microsoft Office).
Understanding and experience with livestock handling estrous synchronization protocols or willingness to be trained is required.
Experience and training in the use of radioisotopes or willingness to be trained is required.
Experience in molecular biology and/or cell culture is desirable as is experience performing RIAs.
Must possess effective interpersonal relations skills
Ability to establish effective working relationships.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master of Science degree.
One year of related experience.
Experience in molecular biology techniques such as RNA/DNA isolation, small RNA sequencing, and real-time RT-PCR is desired.
